  • guys...i want a suitable replacement for my RX135

    Hi dudes,

Its the same old thing again but then I had to have your personal opinion in my personal thread. I am planning to go in for a bike (awesome performance and looks) which ultimately landed me to YAMAHA. My initial choice was FZ cos of its looks but frankly was a bit disappointed with its 14 PS.

But now after going through many threads in xbhp, I have finally been able to shortlist it to R15/Apache180 (u guys gotta help me with the exact model, cos I really cant see anything other than Yamaha. I do own an RX135 )

I am seriously getting confused cos somewhere apache seems to be giving great performance but in some R15 seems to rule the roost.

Help me out guys cos I really don't wanna end up investing a lac on something which might not be the best. Just landed in Bangalore a few days back. It's my first time here so any inputs for this place will really be appreciated.

Once again: I own an RX135 so I want something which can atleast come near it..

A li'l more insight on your requirement please!!!

Anyways you seem to have zeroed in on A180 and R-1-5...Both are gr8 in their own way.

A180 you would get a screamer of a engine, avid handler, prolly the best city-fighter today and gud enough for the odd weekend tours. But vibes are a turn-off and taller guys(5'10"+) do complain about the seating position. Probably the best VFM after P220.

R-1-5 on the other hand is more of a high-revving engine that comes to its own after 6-7k RPM...just blasts away from there...Due to its racing DNA its at home on tracks... Handling being the best among the bikes in India its almost a perfect machine.

P.S: Any specific reasons why the P220 is ruled out??? At 80k OTR its the best VFM in market right now.
      ...Back to HIBERNATE mode...

@OP - keep it between TVS and yamaha. The R15 is the best out there atm, the TVS is massive bang for the buck. Go take a test ride, and first see which appeals to you most.

Ride the R15 the same way you ride your RX&you'll be more than happy with it.
          It is money well spent.

Riding the RX135..Iv got used to the revving up..somehow the 4 strokes haven't appealed that much..and thats the reason im so skeptical

Haven't really heard great news about the pulsar engine, plus its liek everywhere so I gave it a miss.

The only thing about R15 is the wheels. Especially, the back wheel somehow seems very small for the bike, so I was thinking about going in for some modifications later. I had put on a KRP exhaust on my RX135 but that really screwed the engine. Do u guys think, modifications on an R15 is possible?

I thought you must like revving high, so R15/RTR are the obvious choices.
The R15 stock tyres look dimunitive, but are soft compound&super grippy. If you do change them, it would be only adding on the looks factor&compromising on the grip, handling, stability et.all.
If you like modding, Yamaha is offering the complete Daytona Race kit, which costs a bomb, but comes complete with the highlift cam, bigger brake, hose etc.or you could go for the freeflow exhaust alone if you like. That would be a safer bet as opposed to other aftermarket mods.

Will you be selling your 135?
there will be lot of people interested in buying your bike than suggesting you between the R15 and A180.

What exactly you are looking out for in those two machines? If performance is what you are looking for then 135 itself should be sufficient with proper mods.Running a KRP will not improve your performance. Since you are in bangalore , you are in the right place to soup up your 135 with modifications(If any plans).

But anyday i would suggest R15 over A180 for the refined engine and performance.
R15 tyre is there after a lot of R&D in the company. They did not just put it there to let people make fun of it. Track guys will be better guys to comment about it.

Pacer Yamaha is the right place for everything in Bangalore.

both the machines are awesome in their own right and both thrills and begs to be ridden hard.If money is no problem,I'd say R15 is the best bet...and those tyres are made specially to hone the handling of R15.You can upgrade to wider tyres, but at the cost of performance and fuel efficiency too...
but that doesn't mean RTR180 is a slow couch.Have a test ride once and go with the one which satisfies you...

Looks matter to me a lot..atleast in the bike . But, I was worried if I go in for broader tyres, wouldn't they end screwing the engine performance.
