  • Pulsar 180 or Apache 180??

I am planning to buy a new 180cc bike.

I will be mostly using it for city commuting for about 25kms / day, and sometimes weekend trips of about 200 kms a side.

My height is 5'11'' and I weigh around 75 kgs. I would have proffered apache 180, but I heard it gives lot if vibes at mid range and stock rubbers aren't that good.

    Please suggest..

        Go for the menace!!!

yes RTR180 is a VFM and performance oriented bike... it vibrates between 4-6k RPM, after that its butter smooth... and i think its more fuel efficient, mine gives 42-46kmpl...
and most important, 'White' one makes you stand APART from crowd not a part of crowd...
        (BOTY) too...

at 5'11.. i think you should give the RTR a miss.. unless you want to look like a giant on the bike and are in love with the phenomenon called "bike pains".
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

My vote too goes for the RTR.as a package, it's simply irresistible and minor niggles can be overlooked imo... Also, vibes is not much of an issue as projected...d rubber though could improve but unless you are into serious peg scraping/cornering etc,the stock ones should do just fine. D pulsar too comes as a finely packaged machine but d apache betters it.

taller guys will usually be more comfortable on the pulsar 180 UGIV. Better check out the bikes personally.

Apache 180 is a newly developed bike when compared to Pulsar 180.
Therefore, Pulsar 180 has a lot calm, stress free engine. P180 has a proven engine which is working for 4 or more years. Thus, in my personal opinion you should go for 180. it has a decent mileage of 45+ and is a good handler + has more stability at high speeds than A180.

Ride both to know both. even if you find any one of them performing better than the other also take into account your comfort too.

As you just saw in the last replies, pulsar guys will vote for pulsar, and RTR guys will vote for RTR, both bikes have their plus and minuses, go test drive both the bikes and decide on your own, and if you want to know lot on these bikes, spend few hours going through their respective threads.

there's already been a discussion on the same topic, check it out on the what bike section.

I do not know own either of bikes.. but here is my review from TD's of both bikes had on the same day.

                          I stand & weight same as U..

RTR 180 is so much fun to ride in the city. Initial grunt is fantastic & vibes can be dealt with, it is not too much a problem but I felt bike to be small.. I did not get the Big bike feeling.

P180 - Very nice bike.. Big bike feel Initial is not like RTR but not less fun as well, bike feels much refined than RTR & very comfortable to cruise @ 80, 85kmph than RTR

IMO - I felt very comfortable with P180 for my height & considering I will be doing Occasional trips on weekends P180 sounds better than RTR 180.

If it is only city rides then my vote goes for RTR 180

RTR 180 anyday, If you feel your height suits the ride (many of the riders are of your height and some of them are above 6). So Test Drive both.

If I were to choose between the two machines, I would have perhaps chosen the TVS Apache 180. It seems to me a somewhat better machine than the P180, in-terms of the initial grunt, the manuverability, et al.

However, this is not to say the P180 is not a capable machine. It is quite as capable in it's own right, but at the end of the day, I would have happily ridden away the RTR 180 from the showroom.
                              :)
