I am Jayant from bangalore, 28 year old working with a French MNC called Cegedim Software. Born and brought up in Bilaspur(C.G.), I always enjoyed riding anything on wheels but was never a passionate about bikes or cars at an early age. But in the past 1-2 years I have been becoming more inclined towards the technical part of the vehicles.
Started learning two wheelers with a TVS champ, then Dad got a LML vespa in 1997, started riding my first geared vehicle at that time but since I did not have a license so didn't take her out much during the initial years. Started riding bikes after I went to college for my engineering, never owned one but always happy to ride my friends bikes (a big thank you to them for lending their bikes to me) and dreamt of owning once I finish my college and start working.
xbhp magazine was introduced to me by one of my friend who is not a member here but a big fan of the magazine. He never misses a single issue. He got me hooked on to this magazine and later I found that this magazine also has a site and since then I have been a regular visitor of this site.
My motorcycle history
August 2006:
Got a job in Bangalore and started saving for a bike.
May 2007:
Started search for a bike and finalised on a bajaj pulsar 150 and tvs apache 150. I liked pulsar 150 but it was so common, every third bike was a pulsar so that idea was dropped, apache didn't excite me much. During the same time bajaj launched a new bike Bajaj discover 135cc, saw it, took a test ride and booked it. Since then this bike had been a great companion to me, was always with me during highs and lows of my life. Never had a major breakdown so far. I love this bike and I took a great care during all these years.
November 2012:
I went for a vacation to goa and got to ride a Bajaj Avenger for the first time there. Fell in love with that bike and decided that i would get it when i come back to bangalore.
December 5 2012:
Went to Bajaj showroom to take a test ride and book the bike. The Salesperson said they do not have the test vehicle at that time so I need to wait for 10 days and the waiting period was also 10-15 days since I was not in a hurry so I decided to take a test ride after 15 days and then book the avy 220.
December 12 2012:
One of my colleague who had a royal enfield thunderbird wanted me to accompany to the RE service center to check his bike which he had given for service because it had already been a week since he had given it there. To his surprise the bike was ready after service, since my colleague was in a car he asked me to ride his TB on the way back. After sitting on the saddle and starting the engine I could not hear anything except the thumps of the RE. I was never a fan of RE and just thought that people just praise it for the vintage looks. But I was in for a treat after riding that machine for a good 5-6 kms. Called all the RE showrooms the next day to check the waiting period and price across all showrooms.

Went to RE Brand store near Jayadeva and booked a RE TB 350 by paying an amount of Rs 5000 without even test riding it. Next I was waiting for my turn to test ride the RE TB 350 which was taken for a ride by some other customers, suddenly I saw RE Thunderbird 500 in front of me and wanted to take a test ride of it. Took a test ride and immediately changed my booking to RE thunderbird 500 twilight black. Waiting period is 4 months as told by the Salesperson, now waiting for it

A big thank you to the xbhpians here who helped me finalize my bike after reading a lots and lots of reviews of Bajaj Avenger(which I did not buy) and Royal Enfield bikes before finalizing it.
Lots of people still ask my why I am spending close to 2 lakh for a bike if I can a get a car by spending a little more but they do not understand the freedom and independence of the open road. Feels intimately connected to the surroundings. We can feel the road, the temperature changes, the heat, the dust, the rain. That is what all I can say to them

Besides biking I am also interested in photography and travel. I love making lots of friends and have been gifted with wonderful people around me all the time and I am sure this forum will not be an exception.
Ride Safe,
Jayant
