Re: Hi everybody

Vykier Thanks for the bike advice; pretty sound advice there.

I did have the duke 200 and 390 in mind, but various factors(speed/power) removed them from the list. The two bikes I have in mind are the TBTS 500 and the hero impulse. Both have their advantages and disadvantages (i have an excel sheet that can be shared). My bike dreams have the TBTS, but the practical part of my mind keeps bringing up the hero Impulse.. I plan to make the decision in the next week. Visited the RE showroom in ibublur today and was assured delivery in 4-5 months. That short time interval is half my expectation. Though I must admit here that I have never driven an Enfield more than a few KM and am quite overwhelmed by the weight and power of the machine!! (not even mentioning the totallly awesome looks, which totally blew me away)

Lets see what develops over the next week as I'm so very excited about being on a bike again after 2007 and can hardly sleep nor work due to the excitement!!!

Thanks,
Amar.

Re: Hi everybody

Welcome mate.. Good to see a fellow bangalorean on xbhp.

Can u tell us more on how would be u using your bike? Daily run? Weekends only? How many Kms per day? Etc so that we can help you suggest some stuff. But knowing the fact I would not compare impulse with tbts 500. I would compare impulse with ktm.

If you are a weekend rider who likes long drives I would suggest tbts 500.

Maintainance is a very strong point. What ever I have learnt reading thru loads of threads, RE requires attention. RE would need to be taken care like a new girl friend. You need to invest in the relationship if you want to yield longer returns. Relationship between you and RE.

Re: Hi everybody

Hi Vinit and thanks for the welcome.

Well, I want everything from my bike: Daily commuter as well as road tripper. My daily commute is around 22-23 km through the full rush hour and wonderful Blore roads.

And, I learned the same from threads about the RE being high on the care scale.

You're right about the TBTS being far too different from the Impulse to be compared with it. But it does have a rather large place in my heart and looks so awesome (except for that exhaust).

About the KTM: Its another awesome looking and performing bike, and for now looks like it will fulfill my requirements quite well. So, looks like I need to get back to quantitative analysis of my needs and come up with a practical choice (or I will pick a chit from a bag and buy whatever comes out!!)

Re: Hi everybody

If maintainance is something you can live with no other brand is giving u 500 cc cruiser in 2 lacs. I would suggest u tbts 500 as u might also require relax cruiser bike in our city traffic or weekend rides.

If maintainance is the real worry u may opt for other bikes but the fact is ktm also will be a big dent on a pocket if bike asks for spare part changes if not maintained properly.

What's your budget? Are you also considering Harley or Suzuki or Yamaha?

Re: Hi everybody

Maintenance is in fact a big factor, lets see what happens; so I guess the duke 200 is off the list then.

Harleys are far off my budget horizon man. Because my budget is under 2lacs inclusive of riding gear.

I'll be going for a TBTS test ride on monday, and if they can allow me a longish test ride it would be wonderful. Hopefully I'll make my decision and pay the money next week itself.

So here is my finalized list:
1. Impulse: Engine swap and all riding gear or big bore to cruise
or
Plain TBTS and riding gear

Re: Hi everybody

Ok.. I took a 3km long test ride in jayanagar RE brand showroom before booking tbts 500.

You can do multiple test rides given the fact there are less folks in queue. They just ask for a license copy and normal application form.

Hey Vinit, sorry about the late reply. Decision made: I'm buying the impulse (engine upgrade or big bore decision is still pending). Now I have to convince my wife about buying a bike. Thats the tough part of the buying process
