• Wannabe Wanderer

Hello my fellow XBhpians,

I'm Abhishek from Bangalore, soon to be the owner of RE Classic-500 (chrome).

I love touring, and I believe it's the journey that matters more than the destination!

Also, I'm pretty new to the biking scene, any suggestions, tips would be great! (I've been reading MAX, it's a great read to appreciate nuances of biking)
Though being a Bulleteer is bit of a cliche these days, I've always wanted to own a bullet and man, am I happy!

Sorry I can be quite a chatterbox

Hope we'll have a good run eh?!

Cheers!

Happy 'Bulleting' friend. Oh sorry and welcome to xBHP. Maybe my focus was more on the new RE500 .

chaosaddict yeah even I can't wait to get rolling but well, the delivery got delayed, the showroom guy said it's because there was some recall issue on Classic 500.
Any news about it? I'd never heard of recalls by Royal Enfield till now, and I'm sure it'll lift a lot of eyebrows and would be a big news if it's true.

Hence dunno if the showroom guy is delaying, He says he'll get the bike by end of Sept and in middle of all this I'm travelling to the U.S this November.. So I'm apprehensive of getting the delivery. One thought is to buy, finish 500 Kms, down all fluids and park it in home, or to get the delivery once I come back.

Which one'd be better? Please help me out

Hmmm..... It'll depend mate! If you think that September end is accurate and you'll have ample time to clock 500 kms before leaving to US, go ahead. On the contrary, if the showroom is not transparent about the delivery then it would be advisable to take it after you come back (subjective to your duration of stay). REs need care and you just don't wanna leave it back lying in your garage. Based on your situation and dates, do the calculation and take a call but I wouldn't advise to keep the bike lying if you're off for a longer duration.

Exactly what even I was thinking. I'll be gone for around 4 months. But then, I also don't wanna let it go when it's delivered, or it'll go off to someone else, and the next time I want they'll delay again.

My friend says if I down all the fluids from the bike and keep it, it'll be fine. Your views on this?

Four months is quite the time for a bike to be lying still. Also, what you said about 'coming back & re-booking' is true too, so the best bet would be to take delivery and follow this - How to keep a motorcycle when not in use? - Yahoo! Answers India

This should work!!
