Like opined in the thread before two specific topics can be selected before hand ,at least 2 days in advance, and all of us can come prepared and share and discuss every aspect in detail...
        Welcome Sir...
Completely agree with your above point.. but just the blocks wont give any idea of the shape for dumb minds like mine.. So a little practice would help ppl like me implement and have the fruit of the meet.

Subjects can be even as simple as tightening the chain slackness, spark plug cleaning, emergency start or even changing engine oils too.. Lets start from LKG

Place : Some thing similar to Tiger Caves parking Lot.
(Or) Visit any deserted beach road, after the Toll plaza in ECR and we get to have our own space.
I am good with the date. Location is also fine as far as we don't get the eyeballs.

Yes I do understand your contention.....I am OK FOR 2nd October at Tiger Cave, meeting preferably by 8 in the morning at Tiger cave..This place will give us space and also a ride combined into one...
Topic may be chosen by members and agreed upon at least with 2 days time for proper preparation.

Eager to meet all on 2nd October.

You have belled the Cat..and credit goes to you.

            I propose October 2nd 2011 as a start off date for the Chennai D I Y meet.
            Agreeable to me
May not cover all, but we could atleast start with one / two stuff. And lets hope its not a chit chat meet and every one comes in with enthusiasm to learn.
We have to collectively ensure this, let us start with our first step.

            Agreed
So, Guys its upto you to respond if the dates are OK or not.
            Replies in bold.

We can start with topics which are both basic as well as helpful
during touring since it is when we'll need to rely most on DIY knowledge.
Once we are familiar with some of the essentials, we can share and discuss about the relatively complicated.

Below are the suggestions made so far within this thread,

                1) Spark plug session
                2) Drive chain adjustment
                3) Changing Disc Pads
                4) Tuning the carb
                5) Clutch, throttle & brake play adjustment
                6) Clutch & throttle cable replacement
                7) Fixing tyre Punctures (Tube / Tubeless)

                Re-iterating the original initiative:
We can select two topics out of these or any other simple topic for the first session (Oct 2nd), prior to starting the session, we can have a discussion on the topic - followed by each of us trying out the same on our bikes and share the results with others. So that, we can cover multiple manufacturers and h/w type for the same topic.

I would prefer to have topics 1) and 4) as the agenda for first meet. Pls suggest.

                  1) Spark plug session
This should not take more than 20 minutes,as not much to cover.
                  2) Drive chain adjustment
Time taken for explanation will be approx.,20 minutes.
                  3) Changing Disc Pads
This is very important session and will need explanation on function and replacement procedure....will take at least 60 minutes..
                  4) Tuning the carb
This is definitely not simple..The working principle ,the variables all have to be explained along with actual demo,on various setting...Minimum 60 minutes.
                  5) Clutch, throttle & brake play adjustment
should be comparatively easy and needs 20 minutes..
                  6) Clutch & throttle cable replacement
This is a tricky subject since exact routing needs to be followed and some real life simulation will help
                  7) Fixing tyre Punctures (Tube / Tubeless)
Only Tubeless with kit is DIY.

                  Re-iterating the original initiative:

Thanks for the initiative and tips on topics...my replies in bold...
Time of session with 20% extra time for tiding over doubts arising at the time will decide the session time.Anyone keen to do the explanation contributing to tech session apart from me is most welcome.
