It was a pretty bad day for Killer and me.
The car in which Killer and friends travelled met with a small crash on the way early morning yesterday and they could not make it for the race. Towing the car and stuff got them held up.
Lucky chance for the illegal riders of Anya Racing. Who do not own the bikes and bikes which are absolutely non-stock. I mean the engine and works. Is someone at Yamaha listening to this, the whole race scene SUCCKS!
The great officials decided to run the race even during heavy downpour. The track was anyways wet the morning. However I managed well during practise.
A lot of sections in the track were water logged and muddy as well.
After complaining, they decided to get it cleaned. Right then the sky opened up.
A super heavy rain.
The first Heat ran in the pouring rain. I have zero exp riding in the rain and I hate to ride in the rain. Dry tarmac is best suited for me.
With all the worries in me about myself adapting to the rain, I stood at the start grid. I pulled away to 3rd place by starting from the 3rd row. With about 10 guys line up in front of me (Another reason to thrash yamaha, WTF they place riders based on their comp nos in the grid) I had a tough time riding behind the about-to-fall riders in front of me. Worst case, these guys are all over the track. Pretty difficult to make a move and pass them.
So I trailed behind the guy in front of me. Water was logged for nearly 3-4 inches high almost all the corners in the track. To worsen this, hard rain. I kept sliding my rear everywhere and it was really difficult for me to adapt to this "rain dance".
2nd lap the same guy in front of me took the inner line at C3 and splashed heavy water onto my helmet while I was making a move to catch him. I was blinded and guessing that I might hit his rear, i tapped my rear brake. My bike fish tailed heavily, letting the bike to wave all over and finally going off the tarmac. Straight into the wet tall grass. I was lucky enough to not crash. Recovered annd the rear was stuch in slush. Got it out and joined back when already some 5 guys had passed me already.
Nothing much could be done then. All the lucky guys got luckier during the race. Good for all of them. Too bad for the others.
Things that yamaha needs to consider for the next/future races,
*Change the stupid method of the grid line-up
*Position riders based on their skills and not reg nos
*Please do a weather check. Everyone knew 23rd Nov had a cyclone effect in chennai.
*Keep the races more organised and riders must be briefed well. Newbies have no clue. Hatts off to Honda for the way they did things. yamaha is very pissing.
*Ban unofficial riders and teams. This was supposed to be something for R15 owners and not for paid/hired/team/factory riders. if they want to do that, there is always the national championship.
*keep a better host. That girl gets on your nerves.

^^Thats bad!!! I too felt the same way about factory sponsored riders participating in this race. As for Killer, hope he and his friends are fine with their car.Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

Ya man, I rode in group C. Reason there is no point in competing there when the full team is on. rather play on a better proving ground. But the weather played spoilt sport. Thats my utter bad luck. I've never faced rain anytime before, this time it came down too hard.sigpic

Rain played spoilt sport ...instead of concentrating on dressing competitions and singing , try to clean the track next time....sucks..is it a track day or school culturals...
Bloody rain water harvesting on tracks you guys are achieving eh?
I missed my db plugs very much, cudnt stand the voice rendition for the NUMB...the hosts are like always bugging with their torn speakers ..voice i meant..
My suggestion to the yam officials, have pre-qualifiers to judge which rider takes what standing in the qualifiers rather than having the riders win your musical chair competition for getting the top numbers....you are providing a new definition for the term rider standing at the grid...wake up
Congrats to all the legal winners of the race..to the illegal dudes,i wish a knight in dark gives you a taste of dust...killer and joel , you guys listening?
Overall, the race was poorly organised..
As far as my stint is concerned, i emerged 9th from the 15th standing in the grid, pretty good if you consider the rain and track's pathetic state ...Last edited by karthik_R; 11-25-2008, 09:54 AM.TVS 50 XL -> 125 XXL : TVS VICTOR GL : YAMAHA R15-S : YAMAHA FZ1n :: KTM RC 390

Update.
The race was as usual a piss-off by Yamaha. The officials have no clue about what they are doing or talking.
Surprisingly there were 2 Group B (expert) races.
The team Anya guys who are the official illegal riders, as usual were entertained. No one to ask or stop them.
Killer had a very big task of fighting with the Anya guys.
He came 4th in the 1st race and 3rd in the 2nd race. The 2nd Race was the actual one.
Then my class, Group C (Intermediate/Semi Experts).
Since all the grid positions are based on registration nos, I was unlucky as our bus reached the track late by an hour. A lot of AP and KL guys got a chance to register by then. I had some 25 odd people to fight with in the grid. I went off at C2 and then made a come back and had to strike at the rest 10 in front of me.
So in the first round of the Group C races, I came 2nd.
During the final race, I was in the 7th grid. Which means, I'm nearly some 50mtrs away from the guy in the front. Started and a lot of slow riders were blocking my way in a pack. Had to tackle one by one. Thats almost some 15 riders in front of me. By 2nd lap I had knocked nearly 10 of them. Then, moved up into 4th in the last lap and towards the end, knocked the 3rd guy and I was pretty close to the 2nd guy. By then the chequered flag showed up. Finished 3rd.
In a 3 lap race, you cant do much with 15guys blocking...unless I have some 3-4bhp more
Then was the race for the state champion.
It was communicated by the officials that the Group B, experts especially the Anya guys will not race. But when the Karnataka state champion title race was announched, the Anya guys joined the pack. So they took the 1st grid. I was in the 3rd grid. Started, and got rid of a few slow buggers in front of me and tailed the Anya guys for a few corners. Those buggers as usual kept upping their pace. So The Anya guys were some 5secs ahead of me. One of the Anya riders, crashed during the last lap and I finished 3rd. The rest of the pack got to the chequered flag after a long while.
A little while into the race i was wondering if I was having a trackday, there was nobody in front of my sight nor behind me. The Anya guys some 5 corners ahead and the other behind me equally behind
Yamaha needs to change all this stupid way or organising and a race has to look like a proper race. Anyways they have promised that things will change from next year. Let hope and I'm looking forward for the same.
Killer was declared as the best dressed rider
he he he. He had to pose for the first time
Cheers,
Joelsigpic
