  • @ sree, Just ask them to provide a substitute bike for your purpose.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the seat.

this is the mail i have sent to the company head office:

This letter is compiled to bring to the notice of Yamaha India authorities the pathetic service offered by HILTON YAMAHA service center at TRIVANDRUM in Kerala.
A few months back I found that the handle bar of my R15 jerks up and down while in motion (as if the bike is moving over bumpy roads when it actually is not). I took my bike to the Hilton service center several times but they have never been able to correct it. Every time they gave some lame excuses. Fed up with the whole mess I decided to move on. I had been riding with the problem for the past few months. Last week I found that the front fork seal is leaking oil. I took the bike to hilton and luckily they were able to fix the problem. But to my surprise I found that my bike had run 30 kms while it was at the service center. I asked the head mechanic Mr. SYDNEY about this and he gave some lame excuses like digital speedometer can some times automatically give wrong readings and stuff. This is ridiculous. Few of my friends had previously told me that they also had similar problems. It is pretty obvious that while my bike was at the service center some one there had taken it for a 30 km ride. To top it all , now the problem of the handle jerk has increased dramatically and I hate the thought of riding my bike. I spent my hard earned 1lakh 7 thousand rupees to buy this bike and the company has not even been able to rectify a minor problem with the fork. I never expected this sort of attitute from the service center of an international brand. Even the best product in the world is only as good as its service. Please do some thing about this. I ll never again buy a yamaha bike nor will I recommend it to any of my friends or relatives if this is the service that is offered.

now i have an appointment with the chief engineer this january. he will be calling me when he reaches trivandrumto test ride my bike and solve the fork issue.

the reason why i posted this is because i have seen several guys out here suffering negligence and poor service from their service centers. wake up guys. you did not spend your hard earned money to buy all the shit these service center guys are trying to sell you.
one more thing. the head mechanic at hilton has given me rs 60 as compensation for the 30 kms my bike had run while at the service center. initially, before i complained to yamaha head office, he was selling crap like "it is an odometer reading error".

wake up customers(lijo, jayamohan, placebo ....). wake up.
I bought my FZ from Hilton after experiencing bad attitude from Muthoot sales guy, also heard Muthoot service was poor. After first service from Hilton, by the same Syndney (whom most recommended as understanding and helping guy), bike started making weird noises and later found chain was tight beyond 'overtight ' and acid was dripping from battery. Opened the compartment to see a ton of grease, supposed (not) to cover the terminal only, all over the top of the battery and it was filled upto brim. Took back to Mr. Syndney, he said they have been doing this for years and its the right way to do and I was wrong. I insisted loosening my chain with recommended slack. After a fight he half-heartedly rectified it. I cleaned the battery at home. Shot a mail to YMI. Hilton manager called and yelled "if you have any problem you should have contacted them first before complaining." Gave a "F*** u" kinda reply. Told YMI representative Hilton service s**ks and the service center was more like a godown from '70s Amitabh movie than a YMI service floor.

Never gave it to Hilton. My bike is under Muthoot care and the short guy with specs is very keen in resolving issues and they call for followup within a week regarding the service.

I've sued Muhtoot 2-3 months before buying the bike regarding a broken mirror which I bought from them, which was obviously not their fault. It was written there in "vendacka alphabets" to check the item before leaving the counter and once sold item won't be taken back. I didn't check and later found broken and they denied replacement. Showed some attitude to customer care guy and got replaced within a week (due to shortage). That was decency. In April of this year, I decided to make red n' black FZ-S out of my black FZ and was out looking for Silver Tech FZ-S's red panels. No stock at Muthoot and Hilton guy said it's available. Sent bro to get it and asked him to check before leaving counter He checked and looked new, but some difference in color. The spare guy insisted its the same color and "it's new." Bought it and came home and it was Lava Red and not Silver Tech's and it was used one, which was thoroughly cleaned, yet dirt and grease sticking here and there. Took it back, they agreed its different color, but argued its fresh piece. Showed the guy the dirt and lots of stickers over the cover (which seemed it was off from some insurance claimed bike) and finally they refunded.

I'd recommend not to go to Hilton until and unless they are 100% neat and clean in dealings.

Inspiring scornful pity about the service centre I think such a branded product is getting bad name by the dealer point. The repetition of the old story of Fiat Uno by TVS Nammude swantham alkkaralle...Pattiude val ayiram varsham kuzalil ittalum athu valage irrikku

        • @A.j - early morning is a good time to ride, but problem is we'll reach there by noon. And we'll have an extra day of expenses. Currently we are only spending one day and two nights. The increased expenses will be a problem for our non-working friends...

An update on the Munnar G2G - we have shortlisted and will be booking a hotel, name of which I forgot, in Munnar town. Two rooms of 12 and 7 person occupancy. Rates remain same (300per head per day, food not included). Will be giving detailed updates the proper thread.

@Akhil, deville_56, a.j - service woes are common across all makes and models. The extent of pain in getting quality service also differs. If it requires mailing the company, so be it!

                  • @A.j - whats up with your phone. Switched off from yesterday... ???

About Munnar - actually there is nothing much in Munnar for spending two days there! ie, unless you go trekking etc, which I doubt we'll be interested in. The main aim of this G2G is for us to get familiar with organizing and conduction a G2G in a large way - as a forerunner to the SouthIndia G2G, which we have to host at Wayanad before the summer of 2011...

I do have same experience as yours. What I suggest is to find another good mechanic or service centre. I just go there only for spares for which I am happy. Penee epoo puthiyaa mandan onduu avideee as service manager.... Total idiot and modaa... Feels to give him a kick...

I think the FZs hugger will be more apt. Bluevolt had fixed it on his Ninja... there is a thread for it, or he has described in one of his threads... check it out...
