About the awareness programme. What about a ride followed by an awareness class conducted in one of the schools. They are the future bikers and xbhpians. If we can create enough awareness about the safety precautions on the road maybe the children can persuade the parents somewhat. Just my thought..

School kids are the most notorious among law breakers. Underaged and insane. I've seen them riding triples and zigzaging in front of St. Josephs even when cops are around. If someone dare to question, they will be boxed since its their area and students can form a mass in no time with silly political youth parties backing them up. So its a risky job getting into their denOriginally posted by cfellicious View PostAbout the awareness programme. What about a ride followed by an awareness class conducted in one of the schools. So should we do something for the school kids. Not all schools one or two. A ride starting from one school and ending at another.Last edited by cfellicious; 09-29-2011, 09:54 PM.Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

That is a regular sight. I saw 5 people of the same family travelling in an m80. A grown up daughter sitting on the mothers lap two kids in front.Kids riding bikes showing off in front of girls without helmets. Stunting in crowded roads. All these are becoming common sights.Originally posted by Vishakh View PostFirst the adult people with licences should be taught even today saw one rider with his helmet hooked to his hand and his daughter standing in front and zig zagging in traffic

There was police checking at kowdiar. One R15 came to the traffic light saw the police jeep and went back the wrong way. Two students in an enfield stopped and parked on the foot path..
Police usually waive off older adults even if they ride without helmets. That encourages them.
Surya news reported above 2000 deaths due to accidents this year. Its high time we did something here.Last edited by cfellicious; 09-29-2011, 11:08 PM.Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

That's one thing we need!Originally posted by deville_56 View PostChennai pela got a FB page, where anyone can upload violator snaps and action will be taken in no time (they say so). Hope we can negotiate for something like that. Social networking used at its best
Chennai City Traffic Police Photos
Tvm traffic police need to increase their cyber activity. Hope there would be someone in their house who could manage a decent site or atleast a FB page/group.
Also one thing that could be included in seminar or presentations could be proper Driving/riding lessons.
Atleast some of you might have noticed people riding/driving without some good sense of those. Like:
1. Braking - some people uses either of the breaks only and often hear some say only rear brake is needed for a bike!
2. Overtaking - without any horn/signal
3. Proper condition of their vehicle - Headlights, horn, brakes, tyres etc and how they could be their life savers (especially during monsoon - It's a common sight to see slush covered people thanks to either worn out tyres/ in-correct braking.)
4. Zig zagging (most popular among youngsters and while they do a little use of their mirrors could save some crashes)
5. Lane discipline - It's hard to maintain it here in our riding environment but a wise usage of turn signals and mirrors could only do good.
6. Pedestrian Safety - Last but not least one other nightmare for road users. So need to include people who think awareness is only for people using vehicles.
If I have missed something or mentioned something wrong you people could always contribute.
@lijo: certainly no distraction while riding/driving!

1998-2002 - Hercules TopGear
2002-2010 - Honda Activa

At a traffic signal if you are riding a bike and you stop at the back others sound the horn until u wriggle towards the front. No consideration for lanes.
Horn is used as a weapon these days on the road. Night time riding is giving me nightmares as almost everyone rides with high beam.
We need to address these issues also.Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.
