  • @Sourabh & Abishek: I don't care whether you guys sped once or twice, you DID speed and that is what we are all concerned about. Do NOT do such kind of antics in the future, atleast during the G2Gs. When you are riding solo, I don't care what you do, but when in a G2G, please behave or else you guys will surely be out of xBhp, for good!

    Thanks.

Sincere Apologies from My side Aryan. It'll never happen again. Neither in any G2G's/rides nor while riding solo...

              • This was my second G2G experience, specially for the Leh relief discussion. I would have liked to keep my thoughts onto that only but somethings really surprised me. No offence to anyone or his riding skills. Just that i found a few things strange.

                1. Lidless riding: Test rides were taken and without lids on. I know its an open road with hardly any chance of falling etc, but still..

                2. Casually dressed. Leave alone riding gear, some were in floaters and shorts !! I hate wearing gear in the summers but this was such lovely weather.

                3. The love of speed. People talk about riding safe, but have no qualms about hitting very high speeds and reaching "quickly" to the dhaba and bragging about it. I have wisened up after a few mistakes, hopefully they will too.

Ofcourse, it was a pleasure meeting some like minded individuals with their passion shining through (Sorry, i hardly remember names) for the bike and for the cause and kudos to dcs for taking up the leh initiative (I say initiative because talking is easy - actually trying to do something is appreciable)

After seeing a lot of people wearing riding gear, I bought myself a proper riding gear today.. and about speeding, most of the guys didn't knozw the way including me, as the guys who were leading were very fast and to catch up with them and to not get lost others also had to speed up..
There was a time when I was doing 80 kmph and I was riding alone.. There was no one to be seen ahead of me and behind me.. Which scared the hell outta me and I had to speed up to catch up with others so that I dont get lost.

Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

                    • An request to all new buddies joining the club

Please make urself understand that all of the biking comes from yourself. Please do remember not to get into the flow of speeding while coming to or while leaving the lane or going to any places . Even if you speed up make sure , you dont exagerate it in any case & ride more responsibly & take it very clearly that "whatever happens to you ,will to you only" . I not requesting as I m senior or any of that crap , but I am telling this, as I was also in the same shoe of which you are in today & we can set good examples without any exemptions .

"Understand ur Bike, urself & then the surroundings" life will be better . And have respect every time you wring the throttle

Take care all !!C u again next week at G2G

                      • I've a few suggestions for upcoming G2G's so that everything goes smoothly and no one needs to speed up to pick their life in jeopardy

                        1) We should follow the Group Riding techniques given on xBhp
                        2) We should keep a maximum speed limit like 85-95 kmph so that all can drive together and know whether we are on the correct route or not.
                        3) We should have atleast 3 people who know the way to the place where we are going.. 1 per should be ahead leading everyone, 1 in the middle and 1 in the end.

                        Just my 2 cents..

Hi above mentioned 3 points are already in practice.
1.>All active members are aware of the group riding techniques. And some have already set an example of excelent group riding in Himalyas.
2.> If i'm right, then we always prefer speed limit of 80. For most of the bikes, 80 is the confertable touring speed.
3.> In every group ride, experienced people are supposed to be leading and sweeping the group.

I would urge all to follow all the rules of xBhp. these are not just rules. But guide and lessons to survive.

                          • @Hotantivirus : Good to see that you are actively participating in these topics, but as mentioned by sherry people here are much experienced in group riding.....
And as mentioned by Aryan Da, when you are in a G2G we expect you to follow the safe riding rules, these short rides have always turned into "competition rides". All I can say is when with xBhp its your DUTY to follow some rules lest when you are riding alone, one is free to do whatever he/she wants.
Even we all have been in your (read: newbies) shoes when we joined......It will take time for you all to understand all these things...... Rest enjoy the G2Gs, rides and the company of like minded people....
Meet all of you soon (still hoping )

Sherry bhai, i guess in the last G2G all these rules just "vanished" from the experienced peoples' head and we were left in their wake, just trying to catch up with them... anyways, we newbies pledge to stick to the safe riding rules and make sure we don't break 'em EVER...

                              • These rules seem to "vanish" because we are like a herd of animals! When the 'shephard' (read either some senior member or the moderator(s)) are not around, everyone feels they are free to ride any-way they like. On the contrary, this can't be any further from the truth. Safe Riding does NOT mean riding sanely only when "ordered". Heck, who am I to make everybody understand this. We all are grown-ups and let's behave like one.

@all: Let's cut this discussion here and continue with the G2G agenda. Probably, a couple of weeks down the line, when the monsoons finally abate, we all can ride to the hills on one weekend.
                                :)
