Hello Delhi-waalon..
Please can someone recommend few nice places to stay in Lansdowne?
Planning to travel there in the 2nd week of Dec.
Also, would there be snow in Lansdowne in Dec? or the nearest place from there where I can find snow?| Judging a bike by a cubic capacity yardstick is like judging a female by her bra size |

You can stay at GMVN,very good location. Another option is Fairy Dale (slightly pricey)Originally posted by aman_pulsating View PostHello Delhi-waalon..

Snow should be impossible in Lansdowne at that time of the year. I had visited two years back around the same time, very cold but no snow. But then, floods weren't really expected in leh too
More options can be given by Aryan, the lansdowne expert here (Rumour has it that he has a mistress there, hence the multiple visits

@Aman: The staying options has already been clarified by Mik in the above post. The GMVN just a couple of kilometres away from the main market is outrightly the best place to stay in Lansdowne. There is another GMVN TRH (Tourist Rest House) located in Tip 'n' Top, but that is more expensive than the other GMVN (which is located just past the market).
In the market there is the 'Hotel Mayur', which is a very cheap place to stay, but the rooms are real cramped, et al. But for Rs.400 odd you get to stay overnight. If you are really tight on the budget, then there is NOTHING in Lansdowne like Hotel Mayur. And the food which Hotel Mayur serves (do try out the paranthas there!) is absolute yummy, I tell you.
There are a couple of resorts in Lansdowne too, but they are, like all resorts are - very expensive and not really worth spending the extra moolah on. As regards to snow, it does not snow in Lansdowne. I've been there in EVERY kind of weather, and in almost every month of the year and I did not (EVER) find even a hint of snow there, almost it gets solid cold during the winter months (actually, it is a wonderful destination all year-long.
). Nearest point where you can find snow must be Pauri, which is located 90kms. from Lansdowne, although I'm not 100 percent sure how much snow Pauri receives (if it receives snowfall at all, that is).
If you need any other sort of help, please shoot.
@Mik: Mistress!? How I wish my friend. If wishes were horses (or rather four-cylinder machines), I would've had a garage full by now!

How cold does lansdowne get around november end? Doable for a rookie tourer or shall I wait till warmer months? The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

@Aman:
@Parth: Like Ken Da has already mentioned, it does get quite cold but nothing that should deter you (or anyone else) from riding up there. It's a beautiful, quiet place which I am sure you would enjoy riding to.
Also, Khirsu (like Ken Da has mentioned) is a tremendous place, really. It's a small hamlet which is 19kms. past Pauri, where you can stay for the night (there is only one GMVN tourist house there). I've been to Pauri - Khirsu 4 times and each time I've enjoyed the place more than ever before.
Yes, I am in love!:)

Hi ALL,
I'm planning a ride the next weekend.
i have a friend of mine who is new to biking, hence i opted for plains rather then hills. And we're gonna maintain the speed at 80Km/h
SO, Planning to go to Jaipur and Bhangarh.
Anyone interested?
And any idea about the stay? don't want a costly hotel. Just a affordable place to spend night.
