Last time when we did have a night g2g, the police did stop us because we were gathered at the Aruna Asaf Ali Marg which is really a quiet stretch of road. They thought (looking at our bikes and riding gears) that we would be racing/ stunting, while MG and the others were tired of making them understand that all we want to do was to ride to Noida to have dinner!
They let us go eventually, after jotting down our bike numbers and personal cell phone numbers, but as it turned out, they had sent a msg on radio that a 'biker gang' is coming towards Noida. Hence, the group was stopped at DND and was not allowed to go any further. As I was riding ahead (and solo), I could pass through easily. I was waiting eagerly with the camera at the Greater Noida entry, just after the DND toll plaza for the whole group, but they never arrived. Finally, I got to know what happened, and I moved on.
The main point behind this is that:
a) Hooliganism should be avoided;
b) If riding in a large group (10-15), as much as possible ride sanely without really zipping through the traffic like a maniac.
c) NO STUNTS!
P.S: I know what happened in the G2G past Sunday - the drag racing and the subsequent police intervention and all the drama that followed. I would sincierly request the members who were a part of the drag racing NOT TO COME for the forthcoming G2Gs, least of all this upcoming evening G2G. I won't name them openly on the forum, but if they are reading this post, they would surely know that I am talking about them.
I dont understand whats the point in dragging when smebdy is coming for having a nice time and brkfast together.
Personally whenever I see other member zipping/dragging or whatever they call ,
I just stay back and enjoy the show from behind. Yes , i do speed up but only to keep myslf in sight with others in the group. Responsibility comes from understanding the surroundings not by age or bike u ride.
Well this Sunday I m probably off to Karol Bagh by 10am with my frnd as he wants to purchase an helmet , may be i go shopping for new rubber for my bike,both wheels.
anybdy requires used 100/90X18 Metro Continental Navigator, give me a call.

I agree with you Aryan Da.I thnk so if those riders come and ride properly without drag or stunts they can come wht u say? Some of them dont want to do the drag on that day but other force them to do so.Dnt want to spell the names over here......Originally posted by Aryan View Posta) Hooliganism should be avoided;

Better we just ensure that nowhere we come in limelight as bikers are everbody's fav meat.... act in senses & I don't see any trouble. Also, staying at INDIA GATE for long wouldn't be advisable.I thnk so if those riders come and ride properly without drag or stunts they can come wht u say?

Formation of large groups is what invites trouble. While commuting we can form small groups; of 3-4 people, which eventually will meet at pre-decided point.
We all can go for dinner on NH2 or NH8..... some good roadside dhaba.
Presence of seniors would be of much comfort in this case.
@Aryan - Would you be joining in??sigpic

@Kunjal: Hiding of names won't do anything. You can freely and openly name the culprits here in this thread. On the contrary, I would really appreciate that from your side.
@Abhishek: I am not so sure. Being an evening get-together makes it a little tough to attend it. But, nevertheless, I will be keeping an eye out on the final plan (time, place, agenda, etc.).

The g2g's are spelled 'get to-gethers'. A time for camaraderie, for sharing stories and experiences and planning for new ones. Now, where does the 'I am faster/quicker/bolder/more skilled/better than you' come into the picture? What purpose does the mindless wringing of throttles on poor little hard-pressed commuters serve? Those high rpm entries and screaming first gear 'redline' exits that hammer away at the innards of the bhp-starved engines are nothing more than the 'comparo' disease coming alive. And that 'comparo' is nothing but a compulsive craving for that 'ego' fix. Is that all there is to group motorcycling??
C'mon guys....Rossi started at age six...had a father who had more years in motorcycling than we can imagine...and had resources that would put the best of B schools to shame. All that and his talent put him where he is. None of us is even going to get close to him...however hard we wring those throttles and however many times we scrape those knee-sliders. The most we can do with our bikes is to enjoy motorcycling, enjoy togetherness and so enjoy life. Get together to really get together. Competetion and comparisions stifle learning. All discovery ends at conclusion....I can/cannot do that...why??
The meets must serve a purpose..of making us better motorcyclists..and a motorcyclist is not 'just' a rider. He is a person who has many more facets than just the ability to twist the wrist, lean on curves and ride hard. Let the motorcyclist dominate the togetherness....and not just the rider. Keep the competition for the one you really need to compete against..you yourself. Make friends with others.
Ride long and safe....

I am 90% in.
About the drag. I was going to be a part of the second drag, which eventually didnt happen because we saw the policeman standing there.
I was not part of the first drag which the policeman saw.
But I apologise from my heart. And I promise that I will take extreme care of surroundings before venturing into such things from future. I am sorry guys.Rachit K Dogra

It seems that it took you quite a while!Originally posted by Lost Soul View PostOld Fox your way of writing is fabulous ,the way you mix subtle humour and facts is a skill indeed . ive become your fan
Apologies accepted. It is not about apologies actually. It is a question of owning up. And I am glad and I appreciate the fact that you owned up.Originally posted by rachitkdogra View PostAbout the drag. I know I called you guys as well for a drag on election day. But I had kept my eyes peeled for noticing "trouble". Else I would not have gone for it. And thankfully no "trouble" happened.
Good, at least you owned up. And this is called taking responsibility of one's own acts. I really appreciate it.Last edited by ken cool; 05-13-2009, 06:22 PM.The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!
