I have not taken your winger on any of the ride. It was hidden below its cover for last so many days. Just yesterday, took it off and will be commuting for couple of days on it.

Hi All Guys .. Have been following the posts here for quite a while and suddenly I realized there there has been a surge in the no of weekend trips this time around pune ... as the weather favors and few of us got new rides recently.
Though I am not able to get my hands on any 2 wheeler here as its more like a luxury for people to afford i here as compared to a 4 wheeler, which is actually a necessity .. :P
Bur have seen a quite a few around in Midtown and on the Highways ... almost noone is riding their bikes here on stock exhausts ... And a lotta GSRs n XZ10-R's.

To rub salt to the wound .. few tall blonds (not to mention toned up, leggy lasses ) are coming to the office on R1's n GSX-750's. Damn me ...

The other day, Watchin CBR,GSX-R or a ZX-10/14R while I was traveling State highway last weekend ... on freeways is the ultimate riders delight ... damn .. I dnt have a license ... YET ..!!!

Neway ... You guys keep njoin rides there and have lots of stories to tell fr all the season ...

Many congratulations to NIkhil, ICEMAG, Ninz for getting Leh'd and Biru for completing to the NAGA's n BODO's Land.

And not to ask but still ... hope my Baby Winger is also getting its share of small rides by Vishwas Sir in the rains ... after all ...

Jokes apart, i think the indian license works there but you can ride till 250cc bikes only.

AFAIK, Indian License only works for cars that too for a month. Getting a bike license is much more difficult than getting a car license there.

I think pune rto has a option on their site where you can apply for international license which is valid for 1 year.

That's an IDL which can be used to drive for extended periods. What I commented was for our normal license that we use here.

Friends, Am planning for a trip to varandha ghat ( shivtharkal).. plan is to go via NH17 and come back via NH4(thru Bhor). How is the road condition from Bhor to Mahad? and any suggestion on route and places to visit?

That's an IDL which can be used to drive for extended periods. What I commented was for our normal license that we use here.

Indian License/IDP's/IDL's doesn't allow you to drive or rent any vehicle here even for on day. They can only assist you in getting a State License here. Another thing is that Alien (Non Natives called as Aliens .. ) licenses with specific format only are accepted as a proof that you could drive in ur country, if you dont have then you have to appear for tests. Any paper licenses is not accepted and rejected by DMV's and then one has to appear for a drive test.

IDl or IDP still doesnt allow you to own a vehicle ... only thing that you should have before you hit the road is a State License.. people honestly fail in Car's driving license.. majorly on Parallel parking tasks... .. NY State DMV .. measure the dist too from the side walk ... hehehehe ...

Cars license and bikes license differ and you have to apply separately for them. And to my surprize, bikes license here is a longer and costlier affair as bikes here are not considered basic necessity to commute.
Any way ... lets see if I get some license done for myself this time around.
Due to weather biking season is only fr 4 months in here in an year and hence most of the times, they are always parked.
So whenever people roll out .. they do cross country ... especially the HD and Indian owners ...!!!

Its been more than 2 months since I went there, so it'll be good if you get a more recent update.

When I went from Mahad to Bhor, roads were majorly decent. There are definitely some patches where you need to slow right down and try to find tiny bits of asphalt to ride on. The climb from Mahad up the ghat, till the Waghjai Mata Mandir (which is the main view point) is good. Just after the viewpoint is deteriorates and finally becomes a narrow road with very steep and jagged edges. SO watch out for the sudden jeep/car running you off the road.

Overall, I'd recommend this ghat compared to Tamhini. The views are breathtaking, and the roads slightly better IMO.

I hope you are talking about the US? If yes, then I have rented a car twice in the States on my Indian License.

The petrol pump next to Wakdewadi Subway got new machines which show upto 3 decimals in no. of liters.

I filled 200 bux petrol today in the bike and got 2.714 liters (at reduced prices).

My FE has also improved after they got their new machines, it was in the mid 30s with old machines, the last 3 occasions (After I washed the bike properly ) have been 44, 43 and 46.5.

Now I have a serious query, can the 1/2kg of dirt accumulated on the rear rim (aided by chain lube) help reduce FE? If yes, are there any scientific reasons for it?
