How can i check the genuineness of ff386 helmets? How to check for certification on helmet? Is ece certification is only sticker or embossed? Please help, planning to buy one.

Hello, an off topic question for you Pune guys, especially those who are riding non MH vehicles.
A friend wants to take his KA registered bike to Pune as he is working there currently. He won't stay there for more than 10 months. So he should be able to ride his bike there legally without paying road tax. However, he's worried that the cops may bother him.
Here's the question, how are the Pune traffic police when it comes to out of state vehicles? Do they bother too much or is it manageable? His office is in Hinjewadi but he won't ride to office daily as he uses office cab. But he may ride during the evenings and during weekends. So, do you guys recommend paying MH roadtax or ride without paying as he won't stay for more than 10 months? Also, if he provides enough proof would the cops let go or would they behave like their usual selves?

Hi Mate,

we do have a thread Inter-State Bike Transfer Thread for the same.
The question to ask is how is he transporting his bike? The receipt of the transport will be of vital importance as that’s the only proof of the date on which the bike has entered the state.
HE needs to carry that all the time when he would be riding his bike.

In regards with the traffic police. The very first question that they start with is “Do you have an NOC?” as most of the people are not aware that NOC is only required when it comes to permanent transfer to the new state, and hence huge amount of money is asked for the cops. In your case I would suggest if he can get a letter from his company that will cleary note that his stay in Pune will be no longer than 10 Months (or the duration of the stay) will help him to pay unnecessary fine as bribe.


appart from PUC i think your friend will have all proper documents.

I ride an MP registtered bike had have the best experiane with the cops :P

Thanks for the help. The reason I didn't post in that thread is because I wanted a reply specifically from Pune guys

Anyway, getting a statement from the company is ruled out because he'll be quitting the company within 10 months. Regarding transportation, he had planned to ride the bike all the way from BLR to Pune. But if transportation receipt serves as an important proof, I'll ask him to do that instead. Some more questions,

1. If he gets NOC from KA RTO now, will it be a problem if he needs to get an NOC again sometime in the future?
2. If he keeps a printout of the Motor Vehicle Law and show it to the cops whenever they catch him, is it going to help?
