Anyway, getting a statement from the company is ruled out because he'll be quitting the company within 10 months. Regarding transportation, he had planned to ride the bike all the way from BLR to Pune. But if transportation receipt serves as an important proof, I'll ask him to do that instead. Some more questions,

    1. If he gets NOC from KA RTO now, will it be a problem if he needs to get an NOC again sometime in the future?
    2. If he keeps a printout of the Motor Vehicle Law and show it to the cops whenever they catch him, is it going to help?
IF he is planning to Ride, in that case take the bill from petrol pump from where he is goin to fill up. also, the toll receipt will do. ask him to fill some fuel on the day of journy from BLR, and take receipt. if he can pay by card than the charge slip will be an additional advantage. This is requied as to show that the Bike was in BLR on the noted date.

Regarding Point 1 of NOC - dont get the NOC as at the time of return he has to follow a lengthy and tiresome process which involves letter exchange between BLR Rto and Pune RTO confirming that the Bike is not registered in Pune. and also once NOC is out from BLR the bike no longer belong to BLR and has to be registered in Pune. if not then as stated earlier the lengthy and tiresome process will be followed and many a time this gose for a year.

Point 2 - yes that will help but that depends on the cop.

Thanks a lot. That was really helpful. So even if he decides to pay road tax in Pune, no NOC is needed right?

If he decides to pay tax in Pune, NOC is required from KA RTO. I am riding a KA bike in Pune for the more than a year now. I have been caught twice. Once they asked about NOC which I didn't have. But I showed them the PUC, at that time my stay in Pune didn't exceed by even a month, which they didn't agree to. So I had to do 'settlement'. After that the second time they caught I, became more smarter by the last incident , told them that I am here not to stay but to visit. That's the last time. My office is also at Hinjewadi and during office hours it is so much rush that the police don't catch anyone. During the weekends and night there's not a huge problem and your friend can roam freely. But try to avoid the last weekend/s of a month for obvious reasons.

Ha ha. Thanks. So paying the road tax is also ruled out. I'll tell him to keep toll/ATM receipts of KA refreshed every month so that he can lie that he is a visitor

@ ARNABC - have you paid the road tax????? If not than you have to pay fine.

Please note for paying a road tax NOC is not required. NOC is only required when you want to transfer your vehicle to Maharashtra. If your stay is for a limited period you can pay the road tam ride the bike in Maharashtra and when done can head back to your base state. This will not change your vehicle registration number and the it will still be registered as a KA or MP bike.

I have 2 Bikes at my place for both we have paid the road tax and we ride freely. And at any given point we are also allowed to take the bike back to our base state.

So PCgamer if your friend wants to pay the road tax he can. However, please be aware that the road tax is not calculated on the duration of the stay. They are calculated from the time of your entrance in Maharashtra to the vehicle expiry date (life time).

Now the next question comes in mind about the cost as Road tax. As the Bike has not been purchased in MH the cost is less than normal Road tax.

I recently paid Road tax for a Pulsar 150 Gujrat registered and land up paying around 5K. For life time.

Yes.I recently inquired a driving school for the process and NoC is not required. I'm going to pay the road tax. He is taking an Rs. 300 extra and get it all done for me. I ride a FZ-S registered in MP and the agent will tell me the exact road tax while submitting the documents to RTO!

I was in talks with an agent for road tax payment. I asked him for a rough estimate of how much its gonna cost for my 6 yr old R15v1 and he said it'll be minimum around 7k for life time road tax. Luckily we'd a RTO camp for road tax payment of outside state vehicles in our office and I got it done there itself. The RTO officials calulated the road tax considering the depreciation and price of bike in invoice receipt and the final amount came to 4.8k. The documents required in this process was original bike invoice recipt, insurance papers, registration papers, road tax payment proof in home state and a printout from NCRB website stating that the bike is not stolen or involved in any illegal activities.

Can you please prepare a small note on the procedure and upload it here and on xbhp Pune FB group? It can become a guideline for everyone asking about it.
