Inder and Gentlemen,
With the advent of this new riding season bestowed onto us by the good deeds of our heavenly forefathers, I have a lame announcement to make.
The weather is one of those kinds when its warm to bask under the sun and calm and cool in the shadows. Perfect, some may say for riding a motorcycle. Needless to say, I concur ! So why not have a fixed ride every week for us to simply jump on rather than posting " are we riding this weekend?"
I choose Lavasa as this fixed ride destination..partly for I am to ride there every weekend and partly for one can ride to lavasa and be back by 10 am
Now, at the very outset, allow me to make it abundantly clear that riding at lavasa is not about knee downs. Also when you bought your bike they didnt measure your frontal lobe before selling you one. Had they measured mine they never would have sold me the Ninja250R, let alone the Blade !
Hence..
..as a rider it is my responsibility that I stay in the pink of my riding health i.e. I keep sharpening my riding abilities so that I can live to tell my grandson of my stories. Its not about outriding another rider...its about outriding your ownself and what you were riding like yesterday...its about having fun on the road while keeping your reflexes sharp...afterall we all have a family to come back home to.
While riding is great fun a considerable amount of effort should also be towards improving it so that one may at times in the near future look back and say...ahh what a noob i was in year 2010 ! It sucks to stagnate at anything in life and it sucks even more to stagnate when it comes to riding abilties and the set of skills and reflexes required to ride and stay safe ! A ride to lavasa serves the purpose of having fun at riding and improving your set of skills to tackle straights, corners and to become familier with those split second decisions which you will otherwise never encounter on other roads.
I wanna stress on the fact that riding to Lavasa is NOT dangerous ! By no means is it dangerous, if you arent indulging yourself in some wierd whacky riding style.
But the roads certainly are a lot less forgiving.
Lets get this straight ! Any mountaineous road...be it the deals gap in the US of A, or the Mullholland Highway in the US of A again, or Ambey Valley in the US of Lonavla or Lavasa in the US of Pune.....will be a lot less forgiving than any other normal road out there. It isnt always the other guys fault...its also your fault for having read the turns wrong and for having overestimated your ability to react in a particular panicky situation.
So that was the prelude !
The main crux of this post is...every saturday AND/OR sunday there will be a ride to Lavasa which shall start from Chandni Chowk at about 6:30 am.
Riders may start gathering 6 am onwards and the wheels will be set in motion by 6:30am
The general hand signals followed by riders at lavasa are based on this
YouTube - International Moto Signal Comunication
Communication at lavasa is important...hovering of bikes around you like Neo had the sentinels in matrix jumping on him is the worst thing that can happen on mountainous roads. So riders generally ride in a formation Anyone is free to lead the pack of riders but to be honest dont just lead to feel like a hero. If you fcuk up in the front you will make everyone else fcuk up behind you. It is certainly a responsibility of sorts. Then again....if you think you are reading the roads well dont hesitate to be the lead. Being the lead also has its own ways of sharpening the way you look through the turns.
After having left from Chandni Chowk the second halt can generally be taken at the foothills i.e. at the Dam, on the bridge. There the importance to be within your limits will be stressed on once again in a very brief manner or then "ride safe" will be thrown around to each other so that the importance of riding safe gets hardwired into our brains and the uphill climb shall then begin. Maitaining a single file from here on is of utmost importance.
So any which way...if you have ignored everything written above and wanna know what the entire fcukin post is about then here it is..
Rides to lavasa ever Saturday AND/OR Sunday at 6:30 am.
Ride Safe !

@TenHut: the video about the hand signals is quite informative, just a query: shouldnt all these signals be performed with right hand?? as at times it may be necessary to declutch the engine to prevent it from stalling??Last edited by KTJ; 09-15-2010, 12:19 AM.Remember the time when sex was safe and motorcycles were dangerous.

"Bajaj DIDN'T do it" should be the real word here....Originally posted by antz.bin View PostComments: I wonder why BAL could'nt do that in the first place.
Even I was of this opinion a few days back...till I met MG...
Anyways, I gues u already know that FI had even smaller mirrors...Bajaj has elongated the mirror stems slightly on the DTSi version.
The Difference: Slightly better/wider view but its jerky and vibrating. As an aftereffect the mirrors on DTSi vibrate more than FI...
220s fairing needs a lot more support/rearrangement to come up with something better....2002 - Pulsar 150 Classic (Still owned)
2005 - Pulsar 150 Dtsi (Still owned)
2006 - Eterno (sold)
2008 - Dio (Owned)
2009 - Pulsar 220 DTSi

The solution to this particular problem is to reduce the weight of the mirror itself.Originally posted by Devilpulsarian View Post"Bajaj DIDN'T do it" should be the real word here....

What did he tell you?
Anyways, I gues u already know that FI had even smaller mirrors...Bajaj has elongated the mirror stems slightly on the DTSi version. I knew that
The total length of the DTSi mirrors is a full 7cm longer..
The Difference: Slightly better/wider view but its jerky and vibrating. As an aftereffect the mirrors on DTSi vibrate more than FI... Still as useless as they were before. But I prefer vibrating image to no image
220s fairing needs a lot more support/rearrangement to come up with something better....Advice is a form of nostalgia.

Do I look like Jugaad baba?
Edit : No! Don't answer that.
Dagadusheth darshan on weekends is possible if you wish to stand in queue for an hour or so. Not more. If you go sometime around 2.30 - 3 am, the crowd will be much less.Last edited by trustvishwas; 09-15-2010, 12:49 PM.Never argue with an idiot.
