Just came back from Matheran. I got to say, the place is awesome and its really biker's paradise. Had a enjoyable 1hp ride Pics and Logs coming soon.

Well i've been to matheran before and i came back at around 2 last night from a round trip from pune - NH4 - varandha ghat - NH 17 - dapoli beach - mahab - pune

Don't know if you've been on this route before but if you're looking for a challenging and very scenic ride - this is it!! We witnessed AWEsome ghat roads, a beach and fog on the ghats near mahab (with max 3-4 meters visibility). All this variety within a distance of 150kms!
India's pretty amazing man!

Did matheran have fog during the monsoon? i'd gone back in feb..

aHH DK bhau... Its a biker's paradise till the gate of Matheran beyond which only the villagers vechicles are allowed till a point and further off that only the Ambulance and a truck to carry supplies are allowed. Superb roads till the Main Gate of Matheran.. Awesome corners and slopes. Loved it. A patch of the road about 3.6 kms from Matheran was not-so-good and was infected with potholes and thanks to the rains on top of that making it deadly. I enjoyed going through the potholes coz it was futile to try to pass them with fasht going cars splashing the muddy water all around the pot hole infested road.

@vkavadia: There was dense fog in the monsoon season on the visit points even in the midday. We dint encounter any fog on the roads though when we started at 6PM from there.

The hill station must have been awesome with all that fog.. I'd asked a local what it was like in tourist season..

Had a nice ride to matheran and back with utsav dadaji and rohit (non xbhpian), dada's woodland shoes were gone for toss while doing the walking trail and While riding the bike his TVS tyres were loosing grip.

btw can experts please advise me on riding gear..im completely new in riding gear department.
i know planetDSG at MG road and have read about motoverse.Are there any other shops in pune?
Is RJAYS as good as Alpinestars?RJays Jetsream 2 Jacket & Swift Jacket seem nice.
would really appreciate some advice.thanks in advance.

can you please enlighten me on how exactly you compute to the ".x" precision . . ahhh nice to see the rides going on . . . just pulling your legs

A question for the rain riders here....

I own a DSG Maze Jacket and a 2 piece full rainsuit.... and my raincoat doesn't fit over the jacket, and if I wear the raincoat under the jacket, the rain is still gonna spoil the leather on the jacket. Also, wearing the rain-pants all the time over knee guards looks wierd, and also leads to lots of avoidable perspiration (which is better than all wet in the rain, but I'm talking about patches of rain when wearing the whole rainsuit isn't a good idea) :-/ .. ditto with the rain coat on all the time under the jacket.

My question is what do you all do during rain rides / how to suit up (given that its not gonna rain all the time during the ride) ?

I don't suit up at all and enjoy the rain on my helmet, jacket, gloves and knee guards!

But that's not what you're looking for I guess..

Measured it on my Trip meter as I had reset it at the Gates of Matheran exactly as while going I had forgot to do the same so as to calculate the distance, hence did it while returning. Anna when can you ride? atleast Lavasa/incity trip would be great.. been missing your Uni for quite sometime now.

@shrinath uncle.. the TVS tyres suckz!! It was too hard to control the bike on highways where the place was little muddy. Thank God there was no mud on the Matheran ghats.. else I would had really gone for a toss!!

@s_and_m: Get one size larger raincoat and wear over the jacket.

Just consider getting a new raincoat..not much to think on that.
