A 250cc twin 2 stroker will surely smoke a ninja which is a 4 stroker. Its a beauty in all perspectives. It was actually a superbike of that era, so it can surely be serviced by any person who services SBKs. A 2 stroke engine is much more easier to repair/overhaul compared to 4 stroke. But i can agree with you on one thing that it needs much more attension than a brand new ninja 250.The odo reading must have ben 70k..not 7 k!! Even now, the RD350 smokes the hell outta ninja and i love its roar more than anything else.Originally posted by RanjithMN View Posthow can a 19 year old bike tht has run 7k km's(which is tricky btw,its too less for such an old bike, prob rested the ODO or some kind of engine overhaul) with no service support or anything be a better deal than a brand new NINJA which costs the same and has a full Service and Supp.?
Hey, didnt see you for quite some time....You guys surely can spark some flames there at kochi with all your SBKs . I presume all of you have full safety gears, so instead of a helmet campaign like we did here, you guys can hold a safe riding and am sure the police will be very happy to back you. But its difficult to brain wash the minds of the people. After this, they ll end up saying that these jackets and gloves are menat only for superbikes and not for ordinary commuters.. With proper planning you people can do much more there. Full support from our side guaranteed. Ranjith will be more than hapy to hear this as he is waiting for something like to happen there.Originally posted by dreamchaser View Posthey this is brijesh aka dreamchaser here....hey its a great initiative by you guys to take this up...why dont you plan something like this in cochin too..the sbk;s can also add to the glamour!!...what say guys???My New Blog : http://ridesaferidelong.blogspot.com/

i would love to arrange a safety campaign here, but our main issue is we hardly have 4 regular riders!
only if we had a bigger team we could have seriously thought abt it!
2 stokers rule,no doubt abt tht,but i guess this ones a very rare model, even enthusisiat outside are having a tough time with sparesOriginally posted by VarunRTR View PostA 250cc twin 2 stroker will surely smoke a ninja which is a 4 stroker. what im telling is,its not and alternative to someone buying a NINJA 250,its more like an collectors item!
btw it is 7500km!i dont understand tht.Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

Just remember the Pirelli's punch line...
Performance will not be complete with out razer sharp handling.
RD is not a great handler.. Making a challenge to modern Indian bikes on our roads is easy but suicidal!
The frame, brakes, rubber etc are not meant for that purpose...
But R1Z is a different animal.
It have better muscles, amazing twin discs at front.
I cannot find the peak power and torque figures for this machine.
Hope some one can help.
an RD 250(not 350) once managed to pump out 35 BHPs, Then this may at least touch a 50.
It will be a Hardest accelerating machine for sure.baby ninja will not be a match.
But again The smoothness and refinement of a modern oil cooled 4 stroke is generations ahead.
So no need to Write off the lime green little monster.

Intro
Hey guys this is SilentKnight giving his introduction. My real name is Midhun im from tripunithura and im old enough to ride. I currently have a HH glamour carb . Got into biking though my dad who was just a common commuter but is very attached to his motorcycles. I started taking biking seriously in my 12th standard when i took my first biking trip to kotayam . Had the time of my life after which i had to wait for my licence and then did a solo trip to calicut and a trip to coimbatore with a few friends. Unforunately the couple of my friends who were bikers went of abroad for higher studies. So in my search for like minded people i found xbhp and simply loved it. The sheer vastness of this community is awsome.... Hoping to see you guys here arround in cochin .... Oh and rite now im doing B tech in coimbatore Karunya University ... NO VEHICLES ALLOWED ... but i rent a bike occationally and take a ride arround the city ... Well thats all about me .... Bikers for life...Livin in the REDLINE district ------------------

Yeah i agree with your points kochu.... The modern 4 strokers are far more refined unlike these vintage collector's items.Originally posted by kochumvk View Post+1 to that.

just chk this out.
Yamaha R1
This baby came into production after testing the RD350 /400 to hell and rectifying all its faults like the handling, etc. But buddy, have you ever seen an RD on the race track? It flies like a rocket even after throwing it into the deep curves. I ve seen that on the kari track, coimbatore a couple of years back. There is a separate RD class for MRF championships and all.Everyone has doubts about its handling, but after seeing that, mine was cleared. When you google the specs of RD350, u can find that the first versions which were launched pre 1980 era were above 50bhp mark!!! Yeah, even i was amused to see that. But later the company had to decrease the figures to more humanly levels.RD350HT was then born with 33bhp and LT with 27bhp i believe.
But this R1Z is limited to 45bhp and 180kmph though it has much more potential under it!!I would love to get hold of that if i had some money
, but sadly a big no no for that
.

Thanks for correcting me.
with 45 horses this will be a rocket I think...
Considering the 33 bhp RD itself an acceleration monster.
Wanna have a ride

It may be a legendary bike, and a collectors item, but that s what it is.
I don't think we can do justice to the potential of the bike here. For that matter, to any high revving, sportsbike!
What we could do with is torquey, reliable, sharp handling bikes which can handle the assault of our weekday traffic or the weekend tryst on the ghat roads or broken highways!RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!

Varun, No prob! Actually thanks for livening up the thread with something related to bikes!
And its a good find, really.
Last week, I saw a Suzuki Gsx 450 at my Mechs place.
Btw, I would rather get something like a Cb400 if I had the dough!
Nio, I think before taking up such events we have to first start meeting/ mingling on a regular basis.Last edited by need4torque; 02-22-2010, 12:59 AM.RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!
