Well, it rains almost every evening in malshej. Hamara sasuraal wahan se dur nahi, so getting updates.

& vaitarna also sounds interesting, never been there. But cant come on sat, is it possible on sunday. If so, then count me.

There is also one pisey dam just ahead of bhiwandi. Anyone heard about it??? Thats also nice place to hang out.

Anything is good. I do NOT want to go to the usual touristy places. So!
Sunday a few of us went to a relatively less known place called as pelhar. Had a lot of fun. Got to do fokat boating too! Might go there again this Saturday as a certain banned "crappy" member wants to go there!

The ride itself is to welcome rains ... I know that the full potential of that place would not be reached until July but now we would ride there to enjoy the morning mist and wind and may be some waterfalls if we are lucky ... And this wont be the only ride to Malshej this season, remember we have our annual ride there for the Friendship day G2G in August

I recollect that my first ever official group ride with xBhpians was to Malshej Ghat only when Mayur had also joined us and took us through a nice detour via Barvi Dam while on our way back ... It was a fantastic ride mostly remembered for Razor's RTR getting stuck in the muck of Pimpalgaon Joga lake and we working hard to bring it back on the road. I hope this time too they all join us and make it a memorable ride !

Consider me out. Like I said NO touristy places for me, especially NO MALSHEJ on a Sunday. I am straight and dont like to see pot bellied naked men dancing in the fountain. No sir! Not my fetish!

Well said, i am pretty much an anti-social tourer myself, I have this little side-project of mine going on since the last two months wherein i have been wandering to various dams/lakes/reservoirs etc.

Eligibility for a location is simple, shouldn't have visited that place earlier and should be non-touristy. I plan to visit these places again on a better bike..

@rony, avoid malshej as its too touristy on weekends. Here are some options for you.

Location: Ride to Tansa, Bhatsa and vaitarna lake...
Distance: ~240kms

Location: Thokarwadi and nethersule dam(best of the lot, dam was almost dried up when we rode but the inner roads were too good and scenic even in summer)

The MONSOON is officially here signaling the time to turn the ignition of our touring machines ON and set out to explore different parts of Maharashtra drenched in monsoon mood.

To start with what would be a series of wet touring sessions, lets head to one of the most beloved spots of xBhp-Mumbaikars, the MALSHEJ GHAT this weekend (12th June, Sunday) to welcome the Monsoon clouds into our den & have some hot tea along with tasty breakfast amid the Mist of Malshej

PS:

1. All the rules mentioned here duly apply.
2. Touring in rains is super fun but equally risky and fatal especially on the infamous NH222 which leads to Malshej Ghat. Hence, I would request the less experienced riders to duly consider the risks involved and only then confirm for the ride.
3. Seniors can ask fellow Punekars to join IN and make it yet another grand G2G.

Guys as mentioned in my post earlier, this is not the only ride this season. We will cover many places in coming weekends. Malshej is just to start with especially for those who haven't been there many times as some of u may have. Regarding dams n lakes we would do it once sufficient water is accumulated after few wet spells. Till then focus would be to visit ghats and other high altitude locations.

Now this is how I spent my last weekend,

Saturday Left for Shrivardhan - started at 4.30 and reached at 9

Stayed at Savali Resort (MTDC) near the beach for night
Sunday morning hit the beach with bikes enjoyed a lot...

Post breakfast started for Raigad - Left Shrivardhan at 10.30 reached at 1

Instead for ropeway decided to trek till top and to add the fun took the short-cut (Hirkanichi wat - Hirkani's Way) which is a freaking amazing trek

Reached at Raigad top at around 4 and roamed for an hour after which we came down at 6.30

Had some snacks and started for Mumbai at 7.30 it was raining and dark so we took quite a good time to reach Mumbai, took a break for dinner and reached home at 12.30

Overall Summary,

Road Condition:

NH 17 as usual amazing and fun to ride
Mangoan to Shrivardhan - Good road except for few rough patches
Mahad to Raigad - Good road but some difficult twists towards top

Places:

Shrivardhan - Amazing beach, good food, not so crowded, pleasant climate

Raigad - No words can express the feeling of trekking here and reaching the top standing in front of the "THE GREAT ONE"

Karcha:

Overall 550 kms (my R15 consumed fuel worth Rs. 1000)

Stay at Shrivardhan - Savali Resort charged Rs. 300 per person but excellent rooms (Many options available ranges from Rs. 150 to Rs. 400 per person in area)

Food:

NH 17: All dhaba's are expensive

Shrivardhan - Food is excellent and prices are very low (Try Mutton thali or Fish typical konkani style)

Raigad - Took a room to change and keep stuff which was on hourly basis Rs. 50 per hour, Food is also good not much expensive

Overall we spent Rs. 1800 per person including fuel

Just plotting all dams and heading out to see them. No touristy fancy destinations this rains. Thanks

Had ride of life time 2day. Udhampur to srinagar road is mind blowing! Just checked in a hotel at Pehelgam. Fantastic place to stay at just 400 rs.

Tomorrow pehelgam sightseeing and Srinagar nite stay.
