New Roads and New Fun
Last weekend some of my friends decided on a new road - Shirdi Trimbakeshwar without using NH3.
We went from Thane - Bhiwandi Bypass - Malshej Ghat - Shirdi - Nashik - Trimbakeshwar - Jawhar - Manor - Thane.
The Trimbakeshwar - Jawhar route was entirely new and I have never read a log about this route - beautiful landscape and natural beauty - BUT AADIVASI AREA - so avoid at night.
Then this Weekend I wanted to go ride my Bullet on that road again just because of its novelty and speed and scenery.
So again on this Sunday 7 riders including me rode all the way to Trimbak.
Thane -NH8 - Manor- Vikramgadh - Jawhar - Trimbaeshwar.
This is only 180 KMS with great twists and awesome places to halt and breathe in awe.
I wanted to click photos this time but again the road was so entertaining that we didn't stop - just kept on selfishly enjoying the road till NH8.
Posting this here for anyone who wants a new road to Shiv Darshan.
Fill your tank as after Manor it will be difficult to refuel or repair vehicle till Trimbakeshwar. Petrol pumps at Trimbak-Nashik road as well.
But I guess all you non-Bulleteers don't have to worry about 360 KMs distance - one full tank from Thane will take you there and back.
BEWARE of stray cows and stray villagers on the road from Manor to Trimbakeshwar - very few ST buses or other vehicles - but blind curves need attention as there are vehicles and even trucks or tractors on this road.
VERY ENJOYABLE SECOND TIME AROUND !!!
First time around we left Trimbak at 3:30 PM and all the tourist car drivers at Trimbakeshwar scared us with stories of Aadivasi robbers and dangerous Ghats.
Today morning I felt like laughing at those wellwishers - but indeed this is because it was Daytime - At darkness the distance between villages and the dense woods and Ghats would scare any normal human. It is indeed a lonely place at night. Maybe wild animals - that's what the wellwishers suggested.
Trip log will take time.............will start separate thread when it is ready.
Spent Rs 6500 on petrol in October 2008 itself plus other expenses. 100 + litres of petrol burnt. Many rides every weekend - no time to write the logs or post pictures on my Picasa album.
THIS SECOND TIME - I rode with these very senior people - 3 riders of 50 to 55 years of age.
Those who have ridden with me know that I am very defensive rider and avoid going above 80 KMPH for long stretches because I have a Cast Iron and I am paranoid about its health.
So enjoyed this mature people's company and boldness and really had a great time.If you have questions about the new route do ask.
I believe Anoop Abraham was going to go on Saturday - I postponed it to Sunday since I don't like to race with Hondas and Bajajs and all.
Best Wishes,
UD
