Guys, I got my bike's oil changed after 2000km & 50 days from previous change .... went to reddy's today ... he put castrol 4T oil and charged me Rs. 240/- .... is it fair price?

looks fair to me,considering castrol has a bad habit of increasing prices for their substandard products every now and then

Hi friends.. need a favour from you guys.
Me & my frnds r planning a road trip to goa next monday i.e 15th november & will b back to mumbai by thursday i.e 4 day trip in all.
My rough plans r something like this.
Monday 15th - Start at 4 am & reach goa by 6 pm max with lots of breaks & average speed cruising only. look out for accomodation at ny beach in goa (please suggest which beach would be preferable for reasonable accomodation costs).
Tuesday 16th - start early morning & cover as many places as possible in goa which i hav not been to on my earlier visits. halt night at some beach again
Wednesday - Start early morning by 6-7 am again & reach Amboli ghats by early afternoon.. Thereafter ride to ganpatiphule & reach there by evening & stay there for the third night.
Thursday - Start by 6 am & reach mahabaleshwar-panchgani by aftrnoon.. head back to mumbai early evening & get back home before midnight.
My queries:-
1) hav i planned for too many places which are practically not possible?
2) I'm quiet aware of directions to all above places courtesy google maps but i havent been to any of these places by road personally before so any specific pointers?
3)do i need to make advance accomodation bookings at any place? we have no issues to halt at any small decent place or even beach huts wud do in goa but i dont have any idea about their availability on which goan beaches.
Please feel free to advice on any other point u feel important for me to know since this would be my 1st 1000+ kms trip on bike.. Also suggest any alterations in my trip plan if what i have planned is not practical or there is any better option.

If I were you, I would avoid MahaB from the trip! Cause its easily doable in a better time (not saying that Goa isnt easily do able either)

True.. It would be just touch & go to majority of other places that i have planned.. But I had not been to mahab or for that matter even ganpatiphule & amboli ghats before so wanted to cover it.. Anyways, its better if i skip mahab since yes it is definitely more doable over any weekend & give that extra day to goa. I'm very excited to ride on NH17 after going through multiple well written logs mentioning NH17 being the best to enjoys the twisties & konkan beauty. But even Rachit bhau suggested to take NH4 as it is much safer so I'll seriously consider it as a priority & definitely return through NH17 with just a pitstop at ganpatiphule.

PS: Any idea where should i head for in goa, i mean which beach where it is more probable to find accomodation or even beach huts/tents ? Just want the 1st night accomodation to be confirmed because we would be exhausted on day 1. Rest of the days we would manage even on beaches if no accomodation available

Anup - Camping... Did I tell you that @ Karde you can buy Fresh Fish from Auction and bring it back to cook\bbq\Guest house and ask them to cook it?

So whats the plan now! If I see too many confusing plans and the g2g thread ending up as a solo riding advertising thread then I am riding solo to somewhere too!

Fresh Fish and camp under the moon make barbecue, let everyone go to hell, come man lets ride and cook some fresh meat...

Agree with Satyen Baba (lol..its raining baba's these days)

1) While going to GOA via NH4..No need to go till Belgaum.There is an exit from Sankeshwar.This exit takes you to Ajra and then from Ajra to Amboli.This road meets the Amboli ghats 30-40 Kms before Sawantwadi.So in all around 70-80 Kms are saved via this shortcut.Also be careful if riding in the night at Amboli ghats.Its in pretty bad shape.

2) When you will be coming from Goa to Mumbai and You will reach Ratnagiri,you will find an Chouraha sort of place.Left side road leading to Ratnagiri City..Right side some petrol pump(credit card accepted ).The very next left turn(after the Ratnagiri exit left turn) takes you to Ganpatipule (Guys please correct me if i am wrong on this part )

You are right Biru. That chouraha sort of place is called as Hathkhamba which a common spot for most Mumbai - Goa Buses to stop and refuel. There's a hotel cum lodge called as Alankar opposite the petrol, on the road towards Ratnagiri city, which serves good food (veg/non veg) as well as accommodation.

Roads are in decent condition.
Rain is not a problem, but do carry wet liners.

Mumbai to Velneshwar via NH17 ( Goa Highway) : 370 Kms

Prerequisites for this ride:

1. Riding gear inclusive of ISI/DOT Helmet, Armored Riding Jacket, knee guards, shoes etc.
2. Original as well as attested copies of papers of motorcycle.
3. Experience of riding atleast 200+ Kms in a single day and familiar with highway overtaking maneuvers


*Carry enough cash for fuel and food. don't depend on credit cards
*Total distance is 800-850 Kms. Please calculate fuel cost according to your bike's fuel efficiency.eg stock zma would need Rs. 1500/- (850/32*55) 32 kmpl, Rs. 55/- litre
*Please carry necessary spares, which might be difficult to locate at isolated locations, for your bike,
e.g. 17" tube or tubeless puncture repair kit, clutch and accelerator cables, h/l bulb, fuses etc.
*We will be returning via very scenic coastal route.
* I'll bring a few copies of map, list of emergency helpline nos , GPS co-ordinate points and distribute them on 20th morning before leaving.
