This is the signal after kala nagar, where if you take a left while heading south, you get into bkc. The erstwhile Drive in cinema used to be on the left. There is a big bus stop at the start of the signal.Originally posted by Samarth_M View PostGuys which exactly is the Bandra BKC signal you're referring to? Could someone be a bit more specific? I will be departing from Lilavati in case there's anyone staying this side...

(Edit: Make sure you read GS's response to my post a few posts ahead to see why my suggested method is wrong (there are other posts too in response to this post, read them all. I learnt a lot from them and so will you!).)Originally posted by gsferrari View Post1. During emergencies Front brake and rear brake together...give bias to the front brake unless it is wet, slippery or you are in the middle of a corner.
I'm gonna go ahead and, based on my own personal experience, disagree with you on this one in a this-don't-work-for-me kinda way. Rather than give bias to the front brake and manage the oscillations, its simpler (for me!) to give bias to the rear brake and go into a power slide which will drag you linearly in the direction of your momentum - no oscillations to manage - just sit tight and go with the flow and of course hope the traction stops you before you hit the object you are trying to avoid.
With a front bias, the bike does oscillate but the oscillation is hardly predictable on account of gravel and other surface elements in the context of city riding at least. The gravel will usually accelerate the momentum in a specific direction and cause the rear to skid away from the machine leading to a fall. Even with a predictable outcome, its much more difficult to manage (for me!) than a simple linear powerslide. Edit: Furthermore considering the powerslide has leverage over the other method in a wider range of scenarios, I'd rather commit the powerslide to muscle memory than a selective front vs rear bias based on the surface conditions.
As for delta adjustments, those could be made in either case.
I had the habit of a front brake bias, fell twice on city streets, until a wise-old-fart advised me to go for a rear bias. I've also seen Spidey (not the wise-old-fart) use powerslides VERY effectively on our Leh trip managing to get out of situations where I would have most certainly collided (watching him powerslide convinced me its a worthwhile and effective technique for hard braking). And yeah, Spidey has a classic Karizma.Last edited by alankarmisra; 12-20-2010, 03:38 PM.
