Depress the clutch and rev let the revs come down to almost idle and then rev it and leave it, scares them quite nicely on a loud bike, when I do this, the sound from my exhaust is like a big dog on steriods so scares all possible dogs.
For stock bikes, you could just ride normally, and not pay attention, use to work, have always seen them bark but never bite.
