Do not propogate this method of braking.

1. Change your own braking. Never too late. You ride an r15...you can leave the rear brake untouched for the rest of the years to come and you will never need it.

Your point and all of the above duly noted! Thank you! Will try and revert to my forward braking bias along with the suggestions by GS and others. Ahhhh the sweet smell of new lessons. I like!

Alankar, Just a thought, but when you said you had a fall using the Front Brakes ,

1) Was your braking done suddenly?? Did you 'Jab' or 'squeeze' the brakes??? Sudden braking - absolutely yes.
2) Were you gripping the tank with your legs or were you tight on the bars?? Tight on the bars (wrong I know)
3) Was there even a little bit of Gravel on the road?? Loads (I read GSs post on the perils of slippery surfaces too so wrrong again).
4) Did you fall at the end of your braking or at the beginning?? Skidded as soon as I slammed the brakes. The rear wheel moved away from the bike causing me to go into a horizontal slide and I was thrown off the bike. Looking at the end of your post, this was wrong too.

These are the only reasons I can think of which may cause a Front wheel slide under braking in reasonable circumstances..

As you ride an R15, The MRF front tyre is one of the best around and it takes a LOT to get it to slide under normal braking..

The technique you quoted will work under low speed situations.. Managing a rear wheel slide without panicking at 70-80 speeds isnt exactly a nice hot cup of tea..

Trust me, when I was at a track and saw people falling down left and right, it was ONLY caused by either Target Fixation or Rear Wheel Braking skids..

In case you dont trust me, get a copy of "Twist of the Wrist II" movie online, watch it and do let me know of your comments.

P.S. But of course, the front brake bias will never work on gravel. There, I sort of agree with whatever you say.. But on good roads, your technique has the potential to be deadly..

Summary. My braking technique really needs rethinking !

Met or i can say didnt met an xBhpian today.
While coming back home from eastern express highway, near vikhroli i think,A guy on pulsar with ls2 helmet hand signaled me to ask me whether im xBhpian or not. As soon as i nooded yes, he zoomed ahead of me. I thought we will stop there & will have small chat. Dont know why he didnt stopped. Later we crossed each other near flyover from where i took right for airoli & he took left for mulund.

He must have got scared of you... I guess he wasnt fully geared so ran away to hide himself

Even i wasnt fully geared. So what must had happened. He zoomed ahead & i slowed down to hide ourself from each other.

Yeap, thats what he did. Anyone knows who was he??? I think he is the same guy who overtook us at lonavala at our group ride towards lavasa. Correct me if im wrong...

Quite busy re.. anyways, I do try being a silent reader here on forums so nothing to contribute here as I hardly participate in any rides these days.


Btw, you don't know Ramu?? He doesn't post on forums.. but he is quite active and likes stalking xBhpians on Mumbai Streets.
