NH17 is in a bad shape (source HV Kumar driveblog)...true...hence the drive time will be more, so plan a ride accordingly...take for consideration that nothing less than 8-9 hrs to cover one way...

other route is longer but better...take NH4 till Karad and from there on a state highway via Patan and some other ghat (mind the ghat is dangerous and not in a great shape...directly takes u to Guhagar and from there on velneshwar....

Motionfreak should know this road....i guess....

**suggest: dont take this NH4 road with new riders, whose ridding styles are not known to each other...

I know other routes as well panvel-madangad-dapoli-ausd-guhaghar-velneshwar {better vistas little bit better roads ,i knew Nh17 condition hence was asking popular opinion which route would the junta want to take}

I had taken a left from Wadhkal naka... and till Mahad on NH 17 the roads were very good.. wonder how come suddenly they are in bad shape... I had been to shrivardhan last month..

Hey Sachin .. Did U travel there by bike? because the condition is bad since the Rains flooded the Konkan Region.

Road was in decent condition till Nagothane when we went to Varadayini waterfalls. Some parts between Panvel and Wadkhal were in poor condition though.

Yes man i have become lazy, the other reason is i dont have a good bike to ride on....you"ll will do 110kmph and i will be running at 70 - 80 kmph.....what fun will i have! that is one reason why i dont ride anymore, car mein chal raha hai to bol....

how long will i take keeping the road conditions in consideration and a average speed of 60-70 km/hr ???

+1, that too with music and ability to control the climate and a big nice shiny cage protecting you!
Cars are so much MORE fun! I mean imagine the nice view all around without an ounce of breeze touching you, keeping you safe from heat and sweating it out! The safety of seat belts, ABS and what not!


The closest thing that I can relate it with is like the fun of watchin p0rn on a DVD hooked on to the state of the art plasma display! Rather than physically roughing it and trying it out and risking making someone pregnant
