    • Well lets get over all of this now, lets be concious responsible riders.I think we need to plan this Digha/Mandarmoni ride now seriously.

First, of all I think if Gibran requires two people to lead the pack, then let it be Psycho28 (he claims, has done a lot of highways ) and Chris Terror (he is a matured biker), these people can lead it well I think so.

Secondly,Cruise speed 80kmph Up n Down,to be on the safe side for first few G2Gs.

Thirdly,Few smaller groups can be better controlled than one bigger one. This time few more members may turn up.We have to go 3/4th of throttle in this kind of riding rather than full throttle.(for most stock bikes, modded bikes may have to go half throttle)

Fourth, smaller groups shud have at least one experienced Highwayman to lead the pack.

Fifth,Groups shud be made before we leave the meeting point.Every Rider shud stick to his own group. Each group shud've equal number of riders that wud be best for highway safety.

Sixth, during formation evry1 shud be in pairs.I found triplet riding in the previous one its also a fine formation, good coordination is required during overtakes of bigger slower vehicles between formation partners.

Seventh, the sooner we plan the better.

Lastly,Gibran,ur views on this tentative and pls kickstart the planning seriously now.

Sooner I had enough space,I made a leftward movement to get clear of its back and I dint expected that Neil wud be just at my back...........I dint even know what happened at the back,I just felt a tug and heard brakes screech.I dint brake but increased my speed and increased the distance to avoid further complications(My Left RVM is a real Loser,it bends 180degs under winds ).Actually things like these happens a lot at MotoGP races where racers are crazy to get infront for the best line and hence bang into each other.

But I am very sorry to admit that a race like situation should chance to happen in this kind of group riding.People at back should keep follow of movements of people at front.........even if it means slowing down in group riding doesnt matter........we are not racing for God's Sake.Otherwise incidents like Abir wud follow, where the Amby failed to follow his movements and swept him widout even an attempt to brake. The Amby braked only after Abir was hit and was thrown up on bonnet,in order to avoid complete squashing.

I totally agree wid FireBlah, riding in a group shudnt be a snake dance to prove whos faster on Highways like these
              Wat happened is....
I was not at higher speed buddy.... i was just maintaining a contnt. speed arnd 75-80km/hr.. behind U...
Da Gap between da Lorry's was wide enough.. So I kept da constnt. throttle....bt, I didnt expect U'll suddnly let da throttle go... So we came closer suddnly..

nyways...... it was a grt decision frm Ur side--
"I dint brake but increased my speed and increased the distance to avoid further complications"
*No hard feelings.... Just narrated my part of da incident....!

I was just behind the truck.........hence my speed wont have been greater than 70kmph(speedo indicated 65kph at that time),I reduced speed to manuvre leftwards from that truck's back, otherwise I wud have hit the truck head on.I said u were at a higher speed than me,which doesnt mean u were at 90kmph
I dont trust 18 wheelers.....they may bulge up anytime from left so was widening the gap on my left.I wonder how close were u to me,brother, that a small leftward movement of mine hit you !!!!
However,I sincerely apologise on my part it was all the fault of that stupid left RVM which I changed on that very day after returning home.

Talking of Hard Feelings !!!!!!!.............I dint felt any .Things like this happens, we need to keep our cool.A couple of times I had been hit by both Mini Bus and Autorickshaw from the back before. And just like u I also bumped more than dozen times vehicles infront when they braked suddenly. All these times I managed to keep the bike under my control.....so dint made any mistake of braking out of panic that day........it was cool for me.I hope my RVMs wont let this thing again.

@all....... All because of situations like these, where we get to know and incubate and adopt to riding styles in a group,I am not bringing my '95 smoking speed demon, capable of speedo indicated 130kmph.I will bring it only I had been through 4 G2G long rides.Till then I wud be riding my long range commuter which restricts my urge to speed, teaching me and humbling me to adopt to group riding styles.

Incidents like these happen coz of less undrstanding between da Rider's.....

                        • As per my knowledge & Experience---

A constnt. cruising speed of arnd 75-80km/hr is best suitable for Indian Highways.... unless U're doing a Time-specified Road-Trip...
almost all Indian Bikes ranging frm 125cc-250cc can easily maintain it..!!
Engine is less stressed & mileage is also good in arnd 75-80km/hr...

I did alot of Highway Rides & Tours...
maintaining a const. speed of arnd 75-80 on my Z'ma.... returns arnd 43-44km/litre...... which is very much economical as well..!!

                          Happy-Riding....

                          • Had a conversation with Abir's mom today, he is ok and the operation was successful. Couldn't talk to him today coz he was asleep due to the high dozes of sedatives.

About all this discussions about riding in the highway in groups.
Guys u have to keep in mind the fact that U ARE RIDING IN A GROUP. You should think about yourself as well as your fellow riders.

Now the only way for a safe and successful ride is through self-realization. Nobodys gonna tell you to do this or do that every time. You should know what to do, and when to do it, not just for yourself but also for the group's interest.

I've done a lot of tours in highways, mountains, off-road terrains and what not...Both in groups as well as riding individually. So as far as i know,
Cruising speed depends on the bike, and since theres a array of different bikes involved in these G2Gs a cruising speed with which evryone is comfortable should be decided. Smaller groups are easier to maintain.
But at the end of the day all these discussion is useless unless the rider himself realizes the importance of riding sanely. In real-life situations it comes down to whats your decision was...

Having said all these, what is done has been done it cannot be changed, so no use discussing who did what for so long...this was the 1st highway G2G u guys had with each other, and there are a lot of people who are riding with each other for the 1st time so there was certainly the possibility of some disorientation. But as u guys have more G2Gs and people will get more used to riding with each other, i am sure all this problems will be sorted out.

                            Cheers...!!!
