        • A word of advice

guy's i go to college in coimbatore and i suggest that u be extra careful if you pass through village areas, Make sure that you dont get seperated , and try NOT to speed up too much . Be carefull while overtaking people on those tvs mopeds as most of them have no formal training or licence and they are not at all aware of the rules of the road ,They dont use turn signals or hand signals , If unfortunately u do hav a problem on the road , i suggest that you dont argue with the people , settle it as fast as possible and continue on the ride.

          ENJOY THE RIDE ........

                    • Hi...

Hi, I am Ajay. My native is Thalassery, but now am settled in trichur. Presently living in Banglore. Am new to this forum, and new to riding. This is the intro I posted in 'Who Are You?' threads. Am looking forward to make some great friends and some great riding experiences from all in kerala. Swantham naadinde aa orma, evidae poyalum marakilla, athe pola thennae, nattukarum...

Hi everyone, a small intro about myself. I have been crazy about bikes ever since I saw a blazing red superbike whizz past me. I was too small to note the model or the make, but damn, it was fast all right.
Ever since then I decided to ride a bike. However, my parents, however loving they may be, outrightly refused to buy me a bike. My teenage passed without a bike, just dreams and fantasies. Nevertheless I was gifted a car, an ALTO when I was in college, but even that did not go anywhere near extinguishing my desire of riding a bike.

I remember I had a chance to drive my cousin bro's bike. I had just finished my 12th. But I did not know the A-B-C of bike or its handling. The image is still very clear in my mind, like a film screen that keeps running, everytime you close your eyes. I pressed the clutch, put the bike in first gear. How did I know what throttle to give? I raised the accelerator to its fullest possible, left clutch in a second, and there I was doing a wheelie, not know how to stop. I did not intend to do a wheelie, it happened. The next two seconds went too fast for me to remember or notice. The bike slipped and fell to its side, still sliding on the leg guard. I somewhere down the line left the bike, but then I closed my eyes. Opened them, to see my brother coming to pick me up, people crowding around me and the bike. Everyone lifted me up. With GOD's grace, I only had a few minor bruises and a Armani jeans torn at the knee. I still carry that jeans as a reminder. My mobile was done for, completely eroded to road.

This incident, big or small taught me what a bike was. I respected it ever since. I left the bike riding urge then and there. Promised never to touch a bike again. Also my parents and my girlfriend, spell-bounded as they were, immediately shunned and snubbed my biking dreams.

Now I am 23. Never rode a bike after that incident. I have a job, am a software engineer. Saved enough money. So what do I do with the bucks?
Bought myself a Pulsar 150 DTSI 2007 model, a second hand one. Lovely bike. Started riding. But no racing, no stunts. Just decent cruising. And I checked out this forum. Amazing stuff here. Every info that you need is here. So eager to know one and all. I hope I am welcome into the family, though I entered late.

Some of my dreams now include:
                      1. Buy an R15 after I have ridden.
                      2. A road trip to Simla, Nanital, Leh, Ladakh, Goa.

I know these dreams seem too far stretched for me, but hey, I never gave up my dream of riding a bike. So I am sure I can achieve this goal too.

Just one query to all, my friends say that to become a good rider, you will have to encounter crashes. I am totally new to bike riding. Is it true, will you actually fall and injure and only then you learn? I do not ride above 70kmph even on flyover, I ride less than 50kmph in city limits. Please advice.
Also any pieces of advice that you can give for a amateur, please do post.

Hoping to be a rider for life,

                      Ajay Manohar
