Default [Help]: Cbz xtreme not getting smooth ride, Engine goes screamy

Hi All ! i own a cbz xreme from june 2010.

I finished my forst service.till now completd 1100 kms .

I am worried about My bike's Engine.

After reaching 45 kmph the bike starts vibrating a "urrrrrrrrrrr"
sound is been produced []

Is the cbz xtreme always produce so?Cant i get smooth ride like ridding in pulsar.

I can even feel the vibrations near the place where my lap would touch, even @ 30kmph.

And one more weird thing, some times, bike sound like screaming, like if i give a heavy acceleration even i totlally close the throttle.

What i am worried is I learned ridding bike(gear shifting) only with this cbz xtrme,so initially i may have screwed up the engine?i do felt some burning smell @ very start of riding.

Also i am not yet practised with smooth gear shifting. some times i may make the bike little bit uncomfort with gear shift.

Do these thing could have made my engine go crazy.

Can i fix this? Can i get my bike to smooth condition.?

Kindly provide me your valuable suggestions and experience.

There could be many reasons for it , as you said bike is just 2 months old.. here are the questions for you from my side
1) did u followed running in guidelines for your bike like not exceeding 50kmph for first 1K kms?

2) Is the engine oil used is of correct recommended grade and is it upto the fill quantity, this also might be the reason for vibrations.

Next thing you need to check is Carburator tuning , i think we have good Carb tuning guideline in Xbhp , search in universal threads.

My problem is almost same. My hunk has covered 8k+ km and it’s the most technically well maintained bike, I had maintained the run-in period also. But still the bike produces little vibration above 45-50km/hr. Even the carb tuning is still in the stock setting, I never tried to re-tune the carb as I think the carb tuning is perfect. I’m getting 50+kmpl mileage. But yet I’m unable to find out the reason of the vibration. Mostly I feel the vibration on seat, foot pegs and rear brake leaver. And during idle, bellow 3-4k rpm the engine is very smooth however.

every bike has got little vibrations in some range my bike also has vibrations b/w 5-6K rpm. Little bit of vibs are not an issue , its serious only if they are in most of RPM range. Its not gauranteed that your carb is in stock condition even though you have not changed it Service guys may have done that and not all service guys know how to tune carb.

It is relatively new, hence the burning smell. And yes, Honda's engines don't screw up so easily.

The bike's fine, don't worry.

Pabi from the beginning I’ve been doing my bike’s servicing by myself and I haven’t touched the carb yet. So why I’m confirm that the carb is in stock setting. How ever the low jet is maybe a little richer side, but rich mixture reduce vibration AFAIK. I’ve tried few other same bikes and they produce comparable less vibration than mine.

I change the oil frequently, keep the air filter clean, every possible thing I do.

Good to hear that you service your own bike, can you teach me how do you do that , atleast some basic things. Coming to point as you maintain every thing correctly lets start with basic things like are there any loose screws .. if everything is correct then something to do with engine. I am not sure about the following but have a check whether oil is drained out very soon leaving engine rough, any oil leakages... at last option check whether piston movement is smooth any rough areas around it.

Thanks for you comments pabi, please be specific which part you want to learn?

As I’ve said it’s a 100% technically maintained bike. And as it has done only 8k+ km so its very general that I didn’t disassembled the engine components so far, until it has any major problem. As for the basic things top to bottom, front to end every thing is 100% correct expect the correct nut/bolt torque, as I don’t have a torque wrench but still I never do oversight any bolts, try my best to keep them in specific range. Sparkplug gap to engine oil everything is fine. Even a loose leg/engine guard can produce low-massive vibration.

I ever hardly use a oil for max 2k km but even after 2k km still the oil level don’t decrease few millimeters and that means no way of leaking, the piston is intact and the engine is peaty much healthy.

As per your point without disassembling there have no way to check the smoothes of the piston movement, and I don’t want to disassemble it any way.

I’ve checked for any loose nut/bolts which are holding the engine into the frame but no luck, however one nut was a little loose longtime back but after correcting it still no improvement.

As per my knowledge an imbalance piston can cause the vibration, but generally happens for multiple piston engines. And another thing is imbalance or loose/incorrect fitted camshaft can cause low frequent vibration after/between a specific RPM range. But 1st I prefer to check all basic possibilities so why I need an experts advice.
