in city conditions, once in a while i get open roads when returning late from office... at that time, i feel 80 is doable... but the engine just seems to tire after arnd 60.. maybe its coz of the run in and may be its coz i start feeling vibes n i ease my wrist. going to get it serviced this weekend.. hope to really get to kno my FZ after that.

i dont really mean to go over 100 in the city (thats hardly my decision) but on short highways rides, it would b fun to reach three figures.

yea i read the manual.. it says till 6k is ok. but i have read in umpteen number of posts about run ins that the speed must b checked.. for that reason i limit it to 5k, speeds already reach 60 if kept at 5k for a lil while.

i have felt this too.. from 2nd, it goes to neutral n stays there, duznt get to the 1st gear without releasing n engaging the clutch once.

once i was going down a slope of about 1 meter length n i wanted to shift to the 1st (After slowing down), but it didnt engage. i lost my balance. luckily the slope ended near a gate n i fell on the gate while still sitting on the bike ... the bike didnt topple over, but i bruised my elbow on the gate.

initially i thought this was a safety feature included so that in case the rider wants to stop at a signal, the bike wont go into 1st from N like it does so effortlessly in a unicorn... but it is kind of a pain

same here.. in fact, now riding any other bike feels really weird coz the handlebars feel so short.. i rode my roomy's RTR after a looong time recently, and i was really uncomfortable handling it... FZ is too comfortable
dude looks like ur bike has some major gearbox issues ,i can shift easily to 1st without nuetral at all.
i am shocked 2 hear abt the accident crash due to gears ,u shd give bike back 2 showroom.
my problem i have faced in other bikes too,
before u stop u shd change the gears,
P.S - CHECK CLUTCH FREEPLAY ADJ

Default Gear shiftings

Yea, i am having similar problems with gear shifting from 1st to 2nd and vice versa.....this neautral keeps intefering every now and then... Seems to bug me a lot while riding in traffic and hilly and curved roads...I have to be very concious about the gears while shifting between 1st to 2nd and back....

Now it reads about 4000kms and yet it still have that compression (blast from the exhaust pipe)...it really annoys me...need to get it checked in YMIS... Anyone else facing this problem of compression?

I also have it in my R15. Someone was saying its the air induction box-get it checked. I'm also gonna do the same.

hii i have FZ-S, its still in the run in period, its only done 400 on the odo, i have also had gear issues, there is no problem in shifting up but it i want to shift down from 5th to 4th after riding for sometime it will easily go to 4th but if i want to shift to 3rd it just doesn't engage i have to try it a few times to get it working, i took it to the yamaha work shop, the mech first adjust the lever, it didn't work so he then opened the clutch box & said it was due to the spring inside, he tried to make it loose, it is better now but still ocassionally happens, he said the spring is tight & as i ride more it will get the right tension & will be a not be a problem in the future, i will wait till the first service & then see

humm that's common to almost every bike during runin,
But I hadn't faced any gear miss issue,
try DownShift near 2000-2500 rpm range,
it helps to reduce gear miss

I asked in SStn. about this they told me its ok,

no I don't have any smoke problem till now,
it might be due to adulterated fuel

^^Raptor : A 4 stroke engine that spews white smoke from the exhaust is suffering from a case of 'Piston Ring blowiasis"
Read up on the need for breaking-in a new engine and you'll know the reason behind the agarbatti effect !

P.S: Can happen in any bike, let alone an FZ16.

Cheers !
