Just now my brother picked up an orange FZ16. Color is good and uncommon. First impressions are good

Spotted 2 FZ's till date, the read always has me jaw dropping!

Guys remember the saying "The driver's don't pick the car, the car picks the driver" from The Transformers. I would like to modify it as "The rider's don't pick the bike, the bike picks the rider".

I am flabbergasted today, this is a very memorable day in my life. I finally got hold of my Bike - The Lava Red FZ 16 from my dealer in Coimbatore, it is not the test bike as I feared, the bike is in prime condition.

Took the delivery of the bike around 11.00 from the dealer. The dealer had arranged for a small function and he distributed the bikes.

I was looking like a wild monkey admist cool guys and some Rossi fans as I had not shaved for the past one month expecting my bike (I drew curious question about my appearance from all quarters).

I had been there with my Pals and collected the bike. The bike keys were collected by my friend Mr. Sriram(without who this is not possible), I had my friends Saravanan and Antony with my brother Krishna in there.

Took a few pics of the bike courtesy Saravanan and headed to meet my school friends who were in a get-together.

My friends took turns in driving the bike and they were all smiles about the bike experience.

I started to my place which is the Ooty highway and was looked at anxiously by co-motorists.

The bike felt good and has a solid feel to it. The throttle response is good and I felt comfortable with the bike. Hope to add more experiences soon.

I love every moment of it man. hope to post some pics later in the day guys.

1.LOOKS -I bought the bike mainly because of its looks. Iam a huge fan of muscular naked bikes and this is the first bike in India with world class looks ----
Broad rear tire. I like that the tyre is wide but really thin in profile.

I have completed about 200 Kms and here is my initial review,

Engine:

The engine is butter smooth and is torque laden, is very good for cruising down the highway sometimes it is as though the engine is not running. Its very refined and vibration free. It was pulling from as low as 25 Kms from the fourth gear and in fifth gear it had used only 3000 odd rpm to reach a speed of 50 kms it is the normal engine rpm at which I ride during the break-in. Even with a pillion it was consuming just a tad more than the usual but not more than the 4000 rpm mark to reach 50 kms. The engine begs to be revved hard but restraining myself from that now.

Gear Shift:

The gear shift is easy, I felt it a bit notchy first but it has smoothened out now. Upshifting is breeze but I am not of the same mindset when down-shifting. No false neutral and does not ask to down shift frequently it is somewhat similar to my RX which does not ask me to shift often.

Brakes:

The brakes are very good and have a feel to it. It is very progressive and gives you confidence all the way through. During hard braking there is a chance of pillion crashing into you if they are not aware of the situation that you are into. I have not used the front disks that much as of now but even the drums at the rear offer good stopping power.

Cluster:

The cluster is good to read even in bright day light and it has a kind of blue feel to it in the daylight making reading the digits easy without much strain. The cluster does not hinder the road view in any manner instead I felt it enhancing than the bikes with the bikini fairings on.

Ride Comfort:

The ride position is very relaxed and the handle bars makes me feel at home because I have a wide bar on my RX-100 as well. The seats are not too soft and did not bother me that much, I rode it nearly 100 Kms in a single day but no problem posed because of it. Handling in traffic is easy

Suspension:

The suspension is good and I felt it was set to the hard setting I am planning to get it detuned in the next service to see how it feels. They offer you awesome confidence and lets you throw the bike around the corners.

Efficiency:

Have not Noted it down yet as I did not know what is the reserve limit for the bike and how much petrol I had in the bike when i took delivery. But filled it up for 200 Bucks with IOC Extra Premium and it again went to reserve around the 130 Km Mark. So its up to you guys to let me know on that. ( I dont have a clue about it as I dont have any papers manuals etc.. for the bike except for the DC - Delivery Challan for the bike form my Dealer. I insisted on collecting the bike without the required papers and continued for the days.)

Night Riding:

The head Lamps are quite good when you drive in the night an offer you good spread in the dark have not tested its high beam capability as of now would keep you guys posted on that. I felt comfortable riding in the night but when there is high intensity light in the opposite direction then it feels a bit weak to read the road surface.

Aesthetics:

Awesome that is the right word to use. The tank sculpture and the switchgear everything is of top notch quality and is good. Head turner for sure, I am enjoying the rockstar status now.

Pillion Comfort:

The pillion comfort was a bit mix and match here as one of my friends liked it but my Bro felt it to be a bit hard and I felt it to be ok but think i should get the suspension detuned a bit. The pillion seat is not that bad at all as reported it offers space as the rider would move front near the tank and the you would have some space to occupy unless the rider is really bulky.

One more thing that I wanted to let you guys know is about the bike's stands. The side stand when down does not allow you to shift gears with ease as it provides obstruction which makes us realize that the side stand is down. The center stand needs getting used to for comfortable operation.

Issues Faced:

I had my battery drain pipe fused to my silencer as my Dealer people had not fixed it up (both ends) and it is gone now. I am going to get that fixed in a day's time.

My recommendation: Go for it if you like the RX sans the audio system and smokes. It would be a perfect bike for couples who enjoy biking and also some tightness between them.

Got my baby

Got my baby sterday, the black one, i was the first to get one from Kolkata, the dealer (East Ind. Sup. corp.)O arranged a small party where, the reg. hd from YAHAMA handed over the keys to me.
Now comes my exp. with the byk:-
+es:-
1. Superb handling, minimal gear change, a perfect city byk.
2. Awsum luk, a true eye grabber.
-es:-
1. The horn is very timid, doen't matches with the macho luks.
2. Rear suspension is bit hard ( but can be adjusted ).

Rode about 100 kms in the city & felt like real 'LOARD OF THE STREET'.

2) mud flap could be little bit longer as it will splash water into the rear passenger
