      • High wattage Halogen Bulbs

While trying to put in a different headlight bulb to increase the intensity of light.... we put in a 100/90W Osram car bulb... and found out that the intensity is awesome... but the headlight was emitting extreme heat... and hence the fear of melting of the reflector or glass cracking... so we removed the bulb.

Now my question, can a 60/55W Osram Night Breaker(4300K) bulb or 60/55W Osram Cool Blue bulb be fitted on the FZ without any issues.... and will the current electrical setup and battery on this bike support the extra power wattage. Btw... the FZ comes with a stock 35/35W Philips halogen. The night breaker costs 800rs, and cool blue costs 450rs. Though I could not test these bulbs, coz the shop wala was reluctant to give it a try, he said... if u try it, u have to buy it .

        Anybody tried anything similar ??

        • Chetan, the col blue bulbs are utter waste except for show off... nightbreaker, not very sure but if u can get an Osram SilverStar, pls try it. There's a similar discussion that happened in the R15 ownership thread about a week back... might want to refer that too.

P-200's headlight is halogen? Really? I mean, if that pathetic beam is halogen, then I wonder what would've been the case if Bajaj wouldn't have used the so called 'halogen'..

Ahh! Somehow, I knew it! I mean, I did expect the P-200's headlights to be a little weak, but at times I feel it's pathetic, really..

                  • leg guard for the fz

took a test ride of the bike yesterday

                    pros
                    1. amazing handling and feel.
                    2. butter smooth engine.
                    3. loads of usable power
                    4. great pickup

                    cons
                    1. a very small console

and to my surprise the bike had a leg guard fitted to it (actually the macs were fitting it when i reached the showroom, have taken the pics on cell but wont be able to transfer them right now) so those who wish to get a leg guard for their fz can inquire about it at their dealer

FZ16 has a multireflector headlamp which produces a good spread of the light which seems to be a lot better than others(even though it has a 35W bulb)..!!

                      • ^^Exactly.....

Btw... I got hold of BikeIndia and Overdrive magazines dec08.... both have comparisons of FZ with other 150cc bikes (RTR, P150, Hunk).... and it seems like the FZ is on the top rankings in terms of performance too....
In OD, FZ's acceleration timings are quicker to 60kmph (5.2s) than any other 150/160cc bike... 0-80kmph is third best.... and 0-100kmph is second best at 18.5sec.
It seems like the FZ will make a mark in the biking industry in terms of overall biking experience unmatched by any other bike.

                          never trust these magazines
Fz isnt the fastest 0-60 and also isnt 2nd fastest 2 0-100

                            • Puneet, Agree with you on not trusting the mags. They give self contradicting times in each issue.
But as Inder asked, how can you say with surety that the Fz isnt or is the 1st, 2nd or whatever?

Yes. And I went through the Bike review which has FZ marginally trailing the RTR. I guess at the end of the day the difference wont be too big in terms of performance. It may or may not beat the RTR if that's considered to be the fastest 150..err...160. With respect to both the reviews it all would depend upon difference in the rider weight , riding skills and may be the environmental factors under which the bike was ridden, like wind speed, road surface etc.

Individual views can differ. Some feel the RTR is sloppy at speeds till 40 and some dont. Some feel the bike has noticable NVH beyond 80 while some dont. If the overall point of view has RTR being declared as a good bike then that can apply to FZ too.

My take on it would be that the FZ is one of the best looking 150s if not the best. So if the bike can perform and be one of the best performing 150s if not the best...then what are we complaining about?
