  • Now thats how people should be posting. See... How much info was collected.. Anyways... thanks everyone for your valuable suggestions...

From the overall discussions going on, I can figure out that both the bikes would give more or less the same mileage (+- 5 kmpl). And this is quite acceptable.... Almost as good as the trade off between awesome looks, and good looks Thanx everyone

I don't think the battery of a new machine can go so weak just after one week of non-riding. This is a serious issue!
Aryan, I will get more details. He just told me the bike did not start and he had to push start it.

we dont have to rev the crap out .NEVER!
In real world conditions driving the RTR FI at around 3000-5000 equates to 59 kmpl (acheived that), but the red line worshippers will get around 35kmpl in that.........

and about the bikes torque i agree with Mr Puneet the bike rolls without a hint of knock or chain snatch from 2200 Rpm in 5 that shows 24 on the speedo............

and as far as the FZ16 is concerned........
40-45 is the max it can ooze out.............

The bike refused to start after the week when my tried to start it. He had to push-start it finally.

So, one more bike to join the modern 'push-start' bikes.
I guess its is something very serious I too find the battery running out of juice already

I think the main reason is the bike needs to be cranked several times for the first time it starts in the morning and unlike 220 it doesn't has any modern electronics to whack it off the result is after series of cranking the battery seems to run out. More over I too find my engine sounding different already !!

Could this issue be because of people not switching off their headlights while standing long on a signal in the night time and stopping the engine?
The headlight's source is directly from the battery and not from the dynamo. Keeping the headlight on with engine not running will drain the battery in no time.

Yep, that's why the headlights of the P220 shuts off automatically after a few seconds if the engine is shut off. Also while starting/cranking the lights shuts off till the engine gets started.

Does the FZ come with similar feature (since there is no kick start in it as well)?

Possible, but I think the bike is fitted with lesser amperage battery (cost cutting maybe)
The main thing that is currently striking to me is whether the Minda battery has lost its electrolyte level. Sometimes a battery with lesser distilled water may not crank !!

Well that is what I had mentioned in my post made earlier it doesn't feature such a system !!

I don't race, I don't perform stunts, I don't cut across lanes and/ or cut other vehicles, I love to wear my helmet and follow traffic rules/ laws and I prefer safety over surprise... If that is boring and/ or sissy as per you, so be it.

                      • @rranjith_kum : What??? The FZ 16 doesn't have a system like the P220 to automatically switch off the headlight when starting the bike?? Even the newer generation of P150 have it. I remember it when i was kick starting my friend's pulsar 150 (latest gen), when the engine came into life, the headlight turned on automatically. The headlight switch was on all the time.

@ Everyone : Is it not possible to have a system as on the P150? Just for the sake of knowledge

I guess its needs oil change soon !! The manual says the first service is at 1000kms, I am skeptical I will change the oil at first 500 kms itself then again after putting on some 1000 kms from then. I guess that is the best I could do for the engine.

Yeah it doesn't has such a feature !! And also I think Pulsar 220 has a system to avoid continuous cranking which puts the battery down, this is also missing in the FZ

Please wait I am currently preparing a video review maybe I can show these things there.

Hey ranjith, my fz too was sounding bit differently couple of days back. It was quite noisy and also the lacked power. I went over to my dealer's service station and got it checked. He did some adjustments to the idling and also oiled the chain. He said the problem was because the chain was cranky and also that i should drive in arnd 40km speed. I told him i dont cross 50km and keep the rpm under 4.5K . Now the engine sounds normal and power is back. I believe we fz owners need to keep the chain clean and greased otherwise we are going to screw up the machine

                              • raiden : every bike needs proper oiling of the chain. if the chain becomes too dry, the noise increases, and the bike doesnt run too freely. i have a can of WD-40 with me, which i spray every 4-5 days. i plan to oil the chain every 2-3 weeks. the wd-40 solution helps the oil remain on the chain, removing dirt and grim
