I had the test drive of the bike at night. And the headlight is a normal yellow one. The spread is good enough, but the light intensity is not that good. A friend of mine recently faced an accident due to bad road condition. And some of the roads here dont even have ample street lights. So it is better to switch to Osram Nightbreaker, or an HID, if you can afford that.Originally posted by mzone View Postoh thats good, but is the headlight the white light one or the normal yellow... and how is the spread of it ?
@Everyone : The pulsar (newer ones) have a system to switch off the headlight when you are starting the bike. Even though the switch is on, the light remains switched off, and it turns on a few seconds after the engine has started. Can we fix such a system on the FZ 16?

A friend of mine rode the FZ16. His opinion was that it runs uptill 60kph and then feels like its crawling to reach the later speeds such as an 80. Now i'm not sure but i think that the bike was in the running-in period, so essentially he shouldn't have pushed it too much. However could the current FZ owners who have been riding the bike and specially those who might have completed the running in comment on the bike's performance? I dont want to know the top speed, since I know it doesnt have too much of that. But how quick is it reaching to speeds like say an 80 or a 100?>-----R One Fly----->>

Today I am really disappointed by Yamaha!
I had booked a FZ a good while back, for my bro in law, I was told my booking number to be in 17xxxx series, now all of a sudden I recieved a new SMS stating that my order number is K-180413... wtf! Thats really haphazard way of doing business, why this change in the order number and a never ending delay for the bike?.... I have seen people getting bikes here by paying a small premium at another dealer! The best part, I have seen the dealers selling bikes to brokers and non yamaha resellers!!! They are all hand in glove in this malpractise...
I am down right p*ssed now with the Yamaha... and I guess I will still wait for a while... but rest assured if I dont get the bike now.... I know of atleast two bike orders in distant 6 months that will get cancelled... and truct me they are big ticket items!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

the best part of this bike is that it never lets you feel that you are running at higher speed untill you look at the speedometer i once ran it at 6k rpm (maxm since its yet to get its 1st service done) and only when i looked at the 80kmph at speedometer that i realised that i was breaking rulesOriginally posted by leadpb View PostWhat about the Balance at high speeds (70+ or so).
anyone taken so ...
what's the need?? you can get better security from a thick cable lock which you can get from Chopra Automobiles Karol Bagh.Originally posted by pranavjhawar View Posti own an fz 16 and want to fit a central locking system on my bike, which is the best one n from where is should get it fixed in delhi as i want a professional mechanic to touch my bike,

Shiva Yamaha East Delhi
Are you serious??? coz mine once gave me a mileage of 30 on highway and after that it has given me a mileage of 35+ on some very rough heavy traffic riding on delhi. May be the first time it was due to the mischief done by the petrol pump.Originally posted by leadpb View Postme is getting 45+ Kmpl.. I feel it is decent !!
Hmm...what about the vibrations...I have run 850Kms. When I touch somewhat around 5K+ RPM, I feel the engine is vibrating a lot more.. is it expected ??? Will it reduce over time ??
Any other special care to be taken ??
I experienced skidding on the rear tyres twice becoz of excessive braking due to a sudden emergency and after that it seems to me that the skidding of the rear tyres has become a regular affair and on regular occasions too it does so.
And after 700kms I think the engine noise has changed and its rough not like at the begining but its rougher than that it used to be during 200-700kms also the gear shift also doesn't seems as swift as it was in the begining and so I feel that it needs servicing before 1000kms. Is it possible? and do the yamaha dealers offer servicing before the prescribed distance?

This is exactly what I've been sayng when I posted that the Yamaha dealers are a disgrace. Satyen, many have gone through and are going through just what you are. What's shocking is that Yamaha has sent you a new booking numberOriginally posted by satyenpoojary View PostToday I am really disappointed by Yamaha!

. Yamaha may have two nice bikes for our market, but the buying experience leaves one wishing he never bought a Yamaha in the first place. Also, when are they going to do something about the absolutely third rate finish on the alloys of the FZ16?
Umm... Has anyone apart from me faced water/ slush spraying all over while riding the FZ16 during/ just after rains?I don't race, I don't perform stunts, I don't cut across lanes and/ or cut other vehicles, I love to wear my helmet and follow traffic rules/ laws and I prefer safety over surprise... If that is boring and/ or sissy as per you, so be it.

Hey rahul, use the front brake more and also the rear break is weak this may be the reason for skidding(checked with mech but he does nt think so.)Originally posted by rahulbajpai View Postt

are u braking hard??? also mileage is definitely 45+ with speed under 50. I also had the engine noise problem just around 700km. The yamaha mech adjusted the idling and oiled the chain. Its fine now. Another 200 to go for first serviceLast edited by Raiden; 11-16-2008, 03:09 PM.

Wait till you see the servicing.I don't know about other places but in Lucknow when the mechanic took out the rear wheel and for whatever reason put it back without touching the brakeshoes,I was disillusioned from Yamaha then.Originally posted by FZ16 View PostThis is exactly what I've been sayng when I posted that the Yamaha dealers are a disgrace. Not to mention the only thing they are capable of doing is change the engine oil.And it's not just the case with my Gladiator but with the Fz16 that my friend recently bought.
Found a good mechanic in a Castrol Bike Zone, who 'did some time' at the Yamaha service centre and he takes good care of the bikes now.sigpic
