Speechless again....but won't comment any further!Originally posted by raj157 View PostCheck the condition of the filter.. if its good to go.. then leave it... in my case i changed my oil filter when i switched to ss from mineral...
What about a safe, accurate reply like what you (would/ should/ could...) read in the Owner's manual: change aft 1,000km (and then every 10,000).
5k is looooong overdue!
Please show your expertise and explain how you "check the condition of the filter"???When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

May I suggest that you take your bike to a mech, look at what he is doing and why, then get yourself a good set of spanners and be ready to do it yourself next time?Originally posted by Arjun555 View Posthey guys does anyone know how to thighten the chain of fz???
it makes a click type of noise when accelerated...
Anyway: it is not some "click" that will tell you if yor chain is too slack or not: put it on the central stand, and check the up and down possible movement of the chain. It should not be between 3 and 4cm. You have a full description of the procedure in your Owner' manual. When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

oh god .. not again.. please...
I didnt want to write it but ---
owners manual says change the spark plug after 10000kms.. how many did change ..
owner manual says oil grade should be 20w40.. hows many keeps it
owner manual says keep tyre pressure at 29:33... so how many follows it...
yamaha provides 20w40 mineral .. how many has mineral in the oil chamber
yamaha recommends yamalube.. howmany has yamalube till date....
every response should be in context and not which one cannot understand. i follow the straight and simple rule.. not the long and technical way to make people understand... and i am not a sea of knowledge so as much as i know and the way i know i tell fellow brothers the same way..
sorry but i have no other comments to make over here.Life is like riding a motorcycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving,to move forward you must throtle...

Guys faceing these issues from last few days:
1) Clutch lever is too tight, looks like the cable need some lube. Dont know how to put lube there. Replaced the cable 3 months ago.
2) Rear break makes lots of sound when cold. Still running in stock pads. 10500 km done.

Weird sound while downshifting gears
While downshifting gears i hear a 'khat' sound which is very unpleasant and this has started to happen since yesterday when i downshifted to 2nd gear but was in the speed of 4th gear my Fz started to rev up at that time even though i was holding the clutch when i was down shifting and after that i am hearing a sound 'khat' when i downshift.

Please help a guy who is considering the FZ
Hello. I have decided to get one of the FZ bikes (FZ16 or Fazer). I have few questions. Thanks in advance for those taking the time out.
1) Is Fazer's Dome manageable in city traffic?
2) Anyone tried Fazer on a med-long tour? Is it comfortable?
3) My present bike is Passion Plus. Bit used to Hero Honda's almost no maintenance. Is FZ too fussy or regular service and oil change will keep it running perfectly?
4) Anyone got stuck with an FZ in yesterday's rain? I was with my PP
5) The showroom guy said activating both headlights will void the warranty. How to manage?
6) Is a disk in the rear tyre necessary?
7) I've read people changing the lights to 55w. I can do it myself or have to tell the service guys when I buy the Bike?
Thanks

Got my battery charged at the SVC ,no problem now. Also got the chain cleaned and lubed as well .Originally posted by yamahafazer View PostToday my bike (Fazer) unexpectedly shut down and then wouldn't start ,also the consoles would die as if no battery charge. But then I pushed it for some distance and was able to push start the bike.
Again after a kilometre or so ,the engine shut down and again I pushed it and tried to start but the bike didn't respond,I continued to push the bike for half a kilometre or so ,finally I again tried to push start and this time it came back to life.My home wasn't away and soon reached home without any problem.
Well I hadn't used my bike for some days and yesterday when I tried to start it didn't respond , anyway I pushed it and was able to ride around 40 Km. (No engine shut down problem yesterday though )
While riding the bike yesterday I was facing some power loss or some kind of drag ,today I found that the bike's choke switch was ON,so obviously I turned it back but still that drag or kind of going into reserve feeling is still there. Can a blocked air filter cause this ?
And regarding the battery I am not sure whether it is causing all the trouble because once the bike starts the horn is quite loud and the headlamp is also bright .
Battery charging = Rs.50/-
Chain cleaning + Chain lubricating (using Motul products) = Rs. 150/-
Also saw the Max Retail Price of Motul Chain lube was just Rs.510 . Not a bad idea to have one ,especially during the monsoons.

My personal opinions in brown.Originally posted by GreyWarden View PostHello. I have decided to get one of the FZ bikes (FZ16 or Fazer). I have few questions. Thanks in advance for those taking the time out.
1) Is Fazer's Dome manageable in city traffic? Not really.. FZ is anyday better in traffic. Passion is Super. The thinner the better.
2) Anyone tried Fazer on a med-long tour? Is it comfortable? Fazer had done saddlesores so, no problem with comfort on long rides.
3) My present bike is Passion Plus. Bit used to Hero Honda's almost no maintenance. Is FZ too fussy or regular service and oil change will keep it running perfectly? Only two components in an FZ/Fazer needs extra attention - Rear tyre(lasts 20K Kms and costs 4K) and Chainset(lasts 10-20K Kms costs 1300 INR). Maintenance is much more than your passion which can go nearly 50K on stock! but you enjoy your ride 100 times more on a FZ/Fazer.
4) Anyone got stuck with an FZ in yesterday's rain? I was with my PP
Splendor and passions are not so rain friendly.. I dont know what happens to them. No issues with fz and fazers. Though on loose gravel/wet roads I find a splendor/passion easier to handle. A lot depends on the tyres you use.
5) The showroom guy said activating both headlights will void the warranty. How to manage? Place the switch in between till the warranty is over. I am doing it daily since 10K kms. No issues yet. Some say the switch will burn. May be my avg. running is just half an hour per night thatsy why no issues for me.
6) Is a disk in the rear tyre necessary? I feel no requirement till 90 km/hr (very personal opinion)
7) I've read people changing the lights to 55w. I can do it myself or have to tell the service guys when I buy the Bike? Get the bike, feel the visibility then make a decision.
Thanks

Ans 1) Manageable by rider but how can we control others who are coming towards usOriginally posted by GreyWarden View PostHello. I have decided to get one of the FZ bikes (FZ16 or Fazer). I have few questions. Thanks in advance for those taking the time out.

. Also more than the "dome" i.e. the front fairing , the huge turning radius can be a problem in narrow lanes .
Ans 3) Not sure but I think FZ will need a bit more care than a regular HH PP .
Ans 5) Ok in that case just keep the switch in the middle and you will see both the bulbs glow
. But not sure what are its impacts on the electricals. Would ask experts to give some details .And also the ones who are doing this at present, please share your experience.
Ans 6) Braking is good. But obviously having a rear disc would definitely improve the braking , if you really want ,you can modify as some others have done. Hope you have the amount and more importantly ,you find the right person to get the job done.
Ans 7) Why would you get it done by service centre guys if you have the knowledge as well the tools to it ?

Regarding FZ/Fazer's comfort on long rides.Originally posted by muztariq View PostMy personal opinions in brown.
I think FZ/Fazer successfully doing saddlesores is different from them being comfortable to the rider on long rides. I don't mean FZ/Fazers are really uncomfortable but I feel they can definitely improve the comfort

The seating posture in Fazer is more comfortable than an Fz and many other bikes. I find the seats also wider than the Karizma R which is called the highway bike by many.. The suspensions are sporty and a little stiffer than other bikes - Fazer will not throw you around on bumps at high speeds. It will also allow you to brake while doing corners which soft suspension bikes cant afford. Also the wind tunnel tested fairing is a big + on highway.. you just have to know how to use it to your benefit. Above 100 just a little bend to guide the air above your helmet! Unfaired bikes doesn't come even half close to the comfort of a Fazer. Again personal opinion.Originally posted by yamahafazer View PostRegarding FZ/Fazer's comfort on long rides.

What else is comfort on highway??

Thank you Muztariq and YamahaFazer. That was very helpful.
Muztariq, if it does saddlesore, doesnt it mean it is not comfortable for sitting long hours?
I wont deny I got a bit of shock reading that. 50K? I hope you mean thats the maintenance cost throughout an FZ's life.which can go nearly 50K on stock
switch in middle for both lights is genius!! Just got to hope there won't be a side effect.
When I asked the showroom guy, he said the rear tyres are so broad I wont be needing disc. Sounded funny but since I had no idea about it being right or wrong, I just nodded.6) Braking is good. But obviously having a rear disc would definitely improve the braking
Lol actually I do not know how to. I dont ever remember changing lights in the Passion. Maybe the service guy did sometime but I kept using the 'slightly more powerful than 0 watt' Passion bulb without changing it.Ans 7) Why would you get it done by service centre guys if you have the knowledge as well the tools to it ?

With saddlesore - I meant the ride certified by the ironbutt association which many riders aspire to do. 1600 kms in 24 hours. And Fazer has done it!
SaddleSore 1000/Bun Burner 1500 Rules

I meant Passion lasts 50K kms on stock components like tyres and chainsets.. No way related to money you spend on FZ/Fazer.
