One of my friends own Black-Orange FZ-S. It looks so cool! Red-White also has a good appeal, but then again you may feel bad to see your bike all dirty during monsoons.

Anyway, it is finally going to be you who decides. Enjoy your ride, ride safe!

matt black paint on the mudgaurd was done by yourself ?
Thanks for the appreciation mate. These headlights are legal almost everywhere.. As long as hid's are with projectors they are legal. If u just plonk in a hid bulb in a normal reflector without the use of projectors, then they are illegal. Will post night pictures soon.. And about the matt paints, yes I did it myself.

        • Front brake light switch adjustment

          Hi mates,

My front brake light switch is not working properly. The problem is sometimes even after releasing brake lever brake light is switched on. Only if it is pushed further, it's getting switched off.

Guys is there is anyway to adjust the front brake light switch like rear Brake light switch?

          Thanks in advance.

          Regards,
          Gopi.

            • Hi Shv18

Just had a 200 km long ride in rains and the babe looks very dirty. Just wanted to give her a wash. Few tips from you. As I do the electricals lubing with WD40 and how about other parts. Can you describe where I can use WD40 other than electrical sections. And also want to do greasing part. Don't know where to buy the sprayer. Just advise me if I can buy in ebay. Just give me tips of greasing and also using WD40 other than electrical connections.

              Thanks

You can go nuts (spray it all over) with the WD40, except on the clear lense of the instrument cluster , brake/clutch levers/pedal and the hand grips.
It may get a little too slippery and you may have a accident.
I spray it inside the open ended tube chassis as there is plenty of rust inside there, around the places where the paint has not stuck to the frame and there are signs of rust showing.
Try to avoid the brake pad/rotor as they rely on friction to stop you. Same with the tyre treads.

We use WD40 as a water dispersant hense the name WaterDispersant.
I use it to blast grease/dirt off parts so get a couple tins of it.
Spray it into your electrical connections, plugs, switches and work the switches a few times. Wipe the outside of the switches so you don't get oily thumbs/fingers. Anywhere you see rust give it a spray.

Mik has already given an in-depth answer to your query on how crazy you can go with WD-40. During monsoons its the chain that gets major affected by mud and gunk accumulating over it. If you are giving your ride to a car wash shop.. ask them to use diesel on the chain and remove all the dirt from it. Ensure that they are not stupid enough to apply diesel on the front disk brakes.

After your ride dries up completely then liberally apply chain lubricating spray.. if you have Motul then well and good. Otherwise, you can also buy the spray from TVS or Bajaj shops/SVC.. they usually stock OKS Chain spray or TVS.. costs around 200-250 bucks INR but works the same.

WD 40 should be available at any car parts dealer in you locality. if not then the equivalent product it Zorrik 88.

Generic deals on ebay for WD40: http://www.ebay.in/itm/WD-40-WD-40-M...item1c2ac4dad0

Just grease the terminals once in a blue moon.. othe parts apply grease post 10,000 kms
                    Cheers,

Just curious, what's the effect of diesel on the front discs brakes other than making it slippery ?

                      • Just cleaned my bike as i'm going elsewhere for a week or two without my bike, got some queries for you guys to clear.

                        1) Came to Mangalore a month ago, I live 5 minutes away from the beach, I knew corrosion was going to be a problem but not within one month of being here! so the chain has rusted extensively on the sides, the shock absorber has yellow spots, and some parts around the foot rest on the right side,

Any Ideas how to remove these ?

I have YAMALUBE chain lubricator can which i use like once every 2 weeks, i guess the old ways of using black grease would have been better for me.

                        2) I'm missing some parts from my tool kit, are they available in single pieces ?

                        3) So had brought an amway polish( Which is awesome BTW) the other day and mistakingly applied it to a plastic part of the Bike, nothing major happened other than whites lines appeared on it, thought diesel would remove it, it did for a day but they appeared the next day, any other options ?

                        4) Also applied diesel on the rims, plastic parts and outside of the engine once and cleaned with a wet cloth, gave a nice shine to it, Does diesel have any negative effects on these parts ?

If diesel gets into the Brake pads then the biting force dies down significantly.. Not a good thing if you have to do emergency braking..

That's why avoid diesel wash on brakes at all cost.

                          Cheers,

For this, you can use the chrome powder available in market, just rub that powder and it will remove rust marks from any metal part and it will cost around 10-15 Rs/packet

Apply dashboard polish available for cars on the plastic part,i use the same and it works really well.Mine is fazer so extra plastic parts.

                            • Guys just a doubt about sprocketing. If our fz is sprocketed with Front 17 Teeth and Rear 37 Teeth then the top speed at 7500 RPM will be 130km/hr. Read somewhere, I don't know how much it is correct. Any ideas?

                                Yamaha FZ's sprocket ratio:

Stock Front 14T or teeth and rear is 40T. You can check this thread: World of Sprockets link:http://64.130.9.251/talkies/universa...tml#post489107

to gain more top end 15T front sprocket will be enough. To get rocket like acceleration but lower top end the rear sprocket can be replaced with R15's rear sprocket.

Too much under gearing will lead to engine getting too much load and eventually getting damaged.

                                Cheers,
