The max speed that i have ridden till now is 55km/hr and i rarely go up to that speed. I always limit myself within the 50km/hr mark.

Chain rusted and it's dirty? What do you mean? Didn't they clean the chain for first service? When was your first service done? Or are you waiting for the first service? Surely you can feel the difference when you clean the chain and lube it.

The first service has got completed and during that time when i left for first service i had ridden only 500 kms. After my first service got completed i have ridden another 460 kms( Totally 960kms) . The chain is dirty and rusted because rainy season has started here and every time i take my bike out so much mud and dirt gets accumulated over that area.My second service date is due to come in another 12 days. I changed the oil during the first service and with the newly changed oil i have ridden 460 kms.

Buy a chain cleaner and chain lube from motul (it's costly) or you can buy any o-ring safe chain lube of any recognised brands and you can use diesel/kerosene for cleaning and then lube it with chain lube you have bought (cheap method). It's simple DIY. Just search youtube and you will get tons of videos about cleaning and lubing bike chain.

Yea i saw videos in you tube and i will soon purchase a chain cleaner and chain lube.

Is your gear shifts smooth? If it's not then the problem is with your engine oil. Are you checking the level of engine oil? Do it after every 100 kms of short ride or at the end of long journey. Always have an eye on the level of engine oil.

No issues with gear shift they are really smooth. I didn't check the engine oil level as i thought there wouldn't be any issue with it since i have ridden only 460 kms with the newly changed oil.

Can you give a brief about your service history?

My first service got over one month back and i changed engine oil during that time and i had ridden 500 kilometers at that time .

I have ridden another 460 kilometers now and my second service date is due by 12 days.

960Km on the odo and you are still within 55km/h??
Bro you should start increasing ur speed

Refer to Luke's reply on my query about running in. Its here. He explains why its good to rev the engine up sometimes.

Also note that its not the speed that counts, but the engine RPM. Thats what is mentioned in the manual anyways (below 4.5k for the first 500km and below 6k for the next 500km). If ur ride can reach 60km/h within 4.5k RPM so be it

And once in a while take her to 6-7K. Dont hold there for long but make sure you rev the engine till there. You might well reach 85km/h under the right conditions. Note that your engine will feel a little hesitant to rev up at this stage, but getting rid of that is exactly what engine run-in is about. So dont worry, give ur bike a good run sometimes. It will definitely start becoming more rev friendly as you do this.

Also if your chain gets dirty quickly then you have to clean it quite often. As Mad Mik suggests you should clean and lube it every week.

And finally enjoy your ride. Its ur ride and its gonna be with you for a long time hopefully. So take good care of her

      Cheers!!

      • Sudden engine shut down !

Today my bike (Fazer) unexpectedly shut down and then wouldn't start ,also the consoles would die as if no battery charge. But then I pushed it for some distance and was able to push start the bike.

Again after a kilometre or so ,the engine shut down and again I pushed it and tried to start but the bike didn't respond,I continued to push the bike for half a kilometre or so ,finally I again tried to push start and this time it came back to life.My home wasn't away and soon reached home without any problem.

Well I hadn't used my bike for some days and yesterday when I tried to start it didn't respond , anyway I pushed it and was able to ride around 40 Km. (No engine shut down problem yesterday though )

While riding the bike yesterday I was facing some power loss or some kind of drag ,today I found that the bike's choke switch was ON,so obviously I turned it back but still that drag or kind of going into reserve feeling is still there. Can a blocked air filter cause this ?
And regarding the battery I am not sure whether it is causing all the trouble because once the bike starts the horn is quite loud and the headlamp is also bright .

I am facing engine roughness issue and vibration in handle bar and in the tank if i cross 55km/hr mark. The bike just struggles at that point when this speed is reached. Well i will start riding as you have mentioned as i really want my FZ to get settled.

          • @ rajpradeep

Got man! No need to worry.

Ok. Do an engine oil change again? Go for Motul 4T Plus Mineral 20W 40 oil. It's just around 250 Rs. They have discounted as special saving offer.

Clean and Lube the chain yourself, Don't allow the chain to get rusted. No need to waste 125 Rs. for chain cleaning at service centre. . And on second service just tell them to check if the chain slack is correct. And from now on do engine oil yourself. No need to spend Rs. 270 at service centre. See all these and check if the bike has less vibes.

What's the tire pressure. If the psi is higher then surely expect some vibes. How is your engine? Is it too hot when driven for few kilometres. Just check for first 5kms and see if it is hot. It should not be very hot. And what about mileage. If you are getting right mileage then everything should be ok. Anyways no need to worry about the vibe problem. Maybe half of the things are just your imagination. Enjoy your ride. FZ is reliable when driven with care.

                • Guys, the sound of my ride's engine has got loud, dont know what to say it (ghrrrrrrrr type) but I don't heard it earlier. the idling RPM speed is also within recommended level of 1200-1500. went to my local mechanic he made the idling @ 1000-1200, the sound got in control but then the hic-ups arose while riding so reverted to normal idling @ 1200-1500. Acceleration is alright though there is some kindness of weirdness while riding. Also a sound from the headlight assembly is heard whenever any bumper or pot hole is crossed, very slight sound but noticable. My FZ-S is only 6250 Kms old & last serviced 400 Kms earlier & oil was changed 1500 Kms earlier.

Sounds like electrical trouble to me. Try this:

check the battery terminals.. open them and get the sulphur, carbon deposition cleaned, apply lithium grease or petroleum jelly on them. had the same issue.. the battery is the culprit.. it results in lot of built of deposition on its terminals which hinders the smooth flow of electricity to the engine and other electronics.

if the problem still persists then it is the CDI/relay unit. Avisit to a local SVC will help.

                    Cheers,

Visit your local svc, get the chain and sprockets inspected.. do you periodically lube your ride's chain at the recommended intervals or once every service interval? check the engine oil level immediately... i would suggest that you should also start using system G as the fuel quality is not that great and a lot of petrol bunks in Kol sell adulterated fuel.

                      Cheers,

Your ride looks sweet man! lets see a pic of your headlights in the dark.

Are those headlights legal in your country?

matt black paint on the mudgaurd was done by yourself ?

I regularly clean & lube my chain at proper intervals myself. Engine oil is also at the right level. And the petrol I fill is 100% authentic because the petrol pump where I fill belongs to my Friend.
Will clean the chain today again after 350 Kms since lubed.

                          • Yamaha FZS - Which color?

I am planning to pick up a FZS but am confused about the color. I have narrowed down to Red-White and Black-Orange.

Can you please help me understand the pros n cons of each color? Some people tell me that the white fades away and looks really dirty after prolonged use...Please advice

Looks are subjective and would involve a lot of personal preferences.
I would suggest the Black-Orange plainly because to me it looks more macho.

Also I dont think that the white would fade unless you keep the bike out in the sun daily.
