For fazer it hovers around 35..and around 40 for FZ. It could be case that FZ owner treats his bike well, so is extra mileage.

But just want to know, is this difference in mileage a special case due to how well one handles the bike. or these two models really have difference in mileage.

SZR, is my second option. thanks for suggesting though
Don't go for SZR. You want 40 above mileage na. Surely you will get. New bike when ridden sanely will give more than 43km/l in city. This is what I'm getting. And Insane riding will land you to not less than 37km/l. Don't worry about old FZs. First ride your bike properly in your run-in period. 40+ mileage is sure.

When you buy the new bike make sure you won't cross 3.5k rpm during gear changes and riding for first 500km and 4.5k rpm after 500kms. After 500kms you can go till 6k rpm once in a while to get the babe into fine tuning.

After 1k ODO, you can rip the babe as per your needs. Go @ 50-60 km/hr speed and get the 43+km/l mileage or @ 80-90 km/hr speed and get he 37km/l mileage.

Thanks for advice raj, Do u have 2012 Fazer ? Really surprising mileage. do u drive mostly on highways ?

Primary reason for me going to FZ(FZ16 or Fazer) - ( 80% ) and SZR ( 20%) is yamaha's engine and quality. I pass through bit quite lane on my way back to home and I started noticing how different bikes FZs, Apaches, pulsars sound.. I can definitely say FZ has most elegant sound. No engine sound,no chain noise and only exhaust roaring. It is simply great ! There are quite good numbers of FZ/Fazer in our locality, all sound great. It is certainly engine characterstic and not a isolated case of well maintained machine.

I have a 2011 fazer.. 14bhp.14NM torque. Fazer/fz are the most silent bike on the street. If you think that the that fz has greater exhaust note than pulsar and apache..you are wrong brother.. i repeat...fz/fazer are the most silent bike on road.. in 150cc category...

Certainly right ! what i meant to say was...sound heard from FZ is just exhaust note, no engine noise but only exhaust sound. This cannot be said for other WANT TO BE MONSTER bikes on roads.

I couldn't hear my exhaust on my fzs....Looks too girly, needs a manly more racing looking type of muffler, Not some black cylinder covered in 2 part plastic making it look like a box....Now i've just got a carbon fiber trioval

when we are driving we are getting wind noise also and it is difficult to listen to sweet sound that FZ exhaust make. But that is not true for person whom we pass by. They do not hear wind noise we are hearing. But yes, it is very subtle.

I have Enfield, and its exhaust note sound completely different when I am driving it( coz of wind noise ) and when brother drives it(I am just listening to it at some distance apart).

what is carbon fiber trioval, by the way ?

                      • yesterday i got a nail puncture on the rear wheel, mechanic said repairing is difficult as the nail punctured diagonally. He suggested either to replace the tyre or fix a tube in it. Is there any other remedy for this. I heard about slime tyre sealant, has anyone used it.

My penny on this..you maybe knowing this but for sake of others I am telling this.

I wish to tell what numbers 15w50 and 10w40 means. In simple terms, number before "w" tell oils capacity to protect engine( by maintaining its viscosity) at lower temperatures. So for winters or places where temperature remains low, ideal oil would be having lower number before "w". so 10W40 is better in winter/cold places.

Number after W, tells oils capacity to protect engine at higher temperatures. So Oil with higher number after "w" is ideal for summers, hot places, long drives and tours. so 15w50 is better in summer/hot places.
