A mild rubbing of pads on rotor is natural as there is nothing in the brake system to push bach the disc except this friction and is difficult or almost impossible to eliminate. Another reason of this friction is that when the brake fluid heats up, it expands, pushes the pads making it in contact with the rotor. If the cold rotor does not get hot - not warm - after riding a short distance of about 1 km or so without applying the brake, neglect this rubbing.
Otherwise, disassemble the calliper assembly, clean everything and check the condition of the calliper pistons and O rings at the service centre. But I still think the drag you feel is natural and is present in all disc brakes and hence negligible.
If the disc is bent, you will feel a pulsation on your fingers while applying brake.

          1st service at 1k kms
          2nd one at 3k kms
          Then at every 3k kms.

That said, if you're using mineral oil it's better to drain it @ 2-2.5k kms.

The best oil I used so far is 'yamalube 15w50' semi synthetic. (available in svc).

So, you service your bike in a authorised service center yet you use castrol oil? Hows that possible? You change oil yourself?

How much did you pay for the oil? Mineral oils cost usually 250-350.
I would suggest Motul as I have been using Motul oil since my first service and its awesome. Right now using Motul 5100 15W50 oil (semi-synthetic).

Even I do that. When I give my bike for service I ask them not to change the oil till I bring the oil myself. So they just drain the oil and when I go to collect my bike I take the oil and they fill it in front of me.

                Cheers!!

Same here, Once my free services were over I went to them for my first paid service.
I took along the service manual which they did not update after the 6th Page.
Hence I did the next oil change at a local mechanic.

Not sure how there are keeping a track of warranty.

I dont think using engine oil from another manufacturer voids your warranty. The guys at the SVC never complained about it. The only complaint/whine they gave me when I said i'm not going to use Yamahalube was "Sir Motul is available in 1L only. You need 1.2L so better go for Yamaha oil.". I told him thats not a problem and i'll fill it up later if necessary

                      Cheers!!

Some svcs are ok with it I guess, also they too know motul is better than yamalube. But normally it voids warranty.

                        • My gear shifting was very hard (yeah I mean really hrad!) two weeks before during a two day trip. I suspected there may be probs with shifter lever internals.
After the trip I gave my ride for service and they adjusted the clutch cable and the shifting became smooth.

Just after 5 days of usage (just some 70 km) again I felt the same. Gear shifting was very hard yesterday & I checked the clutch cable and its travel is very less. So I adjusted the clutch cable and tried pulling in the lever. Kaput! the clucth cable broke in the middle. Thank God it didn't happen during the ride.
I'm having a spare cable with me now. Is there DIY available for FZ16 clutch calbe replacement??

                          • Logging here after long time. Recent updates from my end.
                            - Front brake had issues.
                            - Battery was almost dead after 3.4 Yrs
                            - Speed sensor was not working. The speedometer was showing any random digits and because of that ODO was also not working.
                            - The panel which has FAZER written on it was broken.
                            - Yamaha logo stolen as usual.

Went to Kamla Yamaha. Their new workshop setup at Sewree is huge and we don't need to take any appointments for service.
None of the old mechanics were there. I heard they opened a new SVC in Borivali and most of them are transferred there.

                            Cost of Service & parts:
                            - SS oil - 505 Rs (Didn't get time to carry my own Motul SS oil. Had no option but to opt for Yamalube)
                            - Oil Filter - 35 Rs
                            - Speed sensor unit - 540 Rs
                            - Master Cylinder spring Kit - 175 Rs
                            - Panel which has FAZER written on it. RHS one - 399 Rs (Good that they had the old Fazer panels.)
                            - MF Battery - 1500 Rs (He didn't had Amaron. I know that I could have opted and got it cheaper from outside. But thought of getting done at one go from SVC.)
                            - 2 Yamaha Logos - 20 Rs
                            - Servicing charges - 300 Rs
                            - Labour charges - 250 Rs

                            Total Service cost: ~4000 Rs

Servicing was done as per their standards. Only one thing they didn't do properly was the fitting of the fairing. Don't know how but they have created huge panel gaps in the fairing which were not there previously. When I go there next time I will get this done properly. But this isn't a deal breaker.
Complete service was done in 5 hours (includes lunch hour). I still say that it is the best SVC for Yamaha in Mumbai.
