Its not the chain.. chain noise is different, and also it is not loose enough to cause noise. It might be some problem in the shocker.. As i have felt its become way too soft. On a single rider, itsngood, but when a second person sits, the noise starts..

        • Reserve Petrol Can Mod in FZ-S

          Hi,

Hey guys. I'm planning to fit a reserve petrol can of quantity 250 ml in my FZ-S as i tend to forget the amount of fuel left in my Bike.
All FZ owners know how the fuel guage works in FZ-S because it is totally unreliable in it.

Planning to fit it near the shock absorber so that it will be concealed from outside. Also that's the place where you can fit it without worrying about theft of spare petrol.
Will post pictures soon. Please share your thoughts on this mod.

            • Could anyone give me details on better engine oils for the FZ16?
I'm a throttle happy rider- And the engine oil doesn't seem to last pretty good-

The store -guy says that I could use the oil used for R15s in the FZ16.
              Valid?

              • Apart from exhaust and the projector headlights, what other modifications can we do on an fz16 ?? I'm talking about the physical mods, not performance mods..

Since you are throttle-happy (loved that phrase ) you should go for a semi-synthetic or synthetic oil.
These oils are better at protecting your engine especially during high temperatures and high rpms. These oils are also ideal if you ride in a hot environment.
The store-guy is right. The stock oil in R15 is Yamahalube Semi-Synthetic. But a far better option would be Motul oils.
Not including mineral you have three options from Motul

Motul 5100 4T 15W50 (Semi-synthetic) - Good for moderate to heavy thrashing - Costs abt 550 INR in Bangalore
                  Motul 7100 4T 15W50 (Synthetic Single-ester) - Good for heavy thrashing - Costs abt 750INR
Motul 300V Factory Line 15W50 (Synthetic Double-ester) - Best oil for heavy thrashing and very hot riding conditions- Costs abt 950INR

I'm using the 5100 15W50 and will switch to 7100 15W50 on my next service. Personally I feel the 5100 is very good and it has made a noticeable difference to my engine (felt by me as well as my friends).

I've not used other brands of engine oils so I wouldn't be able to comment on them. But I've heard that Castrol Power1 4T, Shell Advanced Ultra etc are also very good oils.

You can decide based on your needs.

                  Cheers!!

Yamaha have launched oils especially for FZ (as told by SVC guy). The R15 oil is synthetic, if you add that to your bike, you might have clutch slippage.

I use to have my bike filled with Yamalube Semi Synthetic 15W-50 and use to face clutch slippage. I switched over to mineral oil 20W-40 and the bike feels much better.
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Checkout youtube by searching "fz modifications"...u'll find a lot of cosmetic mods. Well,i would say dual projectors mod is the best, for better light spread as well as looks.

                      • Hello Bikers, my baby is just above one year old. Well, from the day i have taken my bike, i have experienced vibrations as my bike touches 60kph (around 4000rpm). I have highlighted this problem to the SVC guys whenever i have taken my bike for servicing. But, till now the problem is not resolved

                        what could be the issue?

It's not an issue, it's common with fz. I guess it's the torque.

Clutch slip with yamalube 15w50? Are you kidding ? It's the best oil I used in my bike till date.

Wrong info my man!! Clutch slippage will only happen if the rider is using fully synthetic oil made for running car engines. FS oil like Motul 300V have been specially formulated for wet clutch type bikes so there is no such issue. In my case over 11,000 kms with 300V.

                            Cheers,

                            • Any body from mulund here??? never ever go to Chheda petrol pump in mulund (ESIS hospital area). All their meters are rigged.

yesterday i had an incident with them...... i always do a full tank fill at any station and since my regular station was closed i went there.

i asked them to do a full tank and was occasionally looking at the meter and then in the tank. the guy filled till the base of the neck and when i looked at the meter the amount was 980

where as it always comes around 850. the litres poured was also not showing. i asked them the reason for 980 they said "petrol cost has been increased" and actually it was 77rs/ltr

since i was in a hurry i dint think much, asked for bill and rushed to my office. in the afternoon when i got time i checked the bill and was baffled to see the litres poured were 12.6.

Fazer's tank itself is 12ltrs and i hadn't even reached the reserve. that mean there is still at least 1 litre left in tank. so how did he fill 12.6 litres???

so i would advise my friends in mulund or coming to mulund, never ever go to that petrol pump if u care about your money.

i am posting this to just let out my frustration ...sorry if it violates the forum rules. mods are free to delete it.

It better to stay away from these kind of mods as its not safe. Your bike has a reserve. Always run the bike with fuel in ON position and once you switch to reserve head to the nearest pump. This is the best method.
Also keeping the tank filled prevents rusting of tank and you don't have to push the bike in the middle of nowhere.
