Sadly the HT cable alone on a basically stock bike won't give you much gains except for a lighter wallet, That may give you more speed and power due to the change in the power to weight ratio.

Save your $ and get some decent mods.
I've done a couple mods to my FZS and haven't touched the plug or cable.
Love your (a bit sarcastic) sense of humor....although being afraid it might not always be perceived by some....?!

The "power to weight ratio gain", specially, is a keeper!
When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

I think Hary helped greatly in reducing our wallets weight to the power ratio

Just a few little things here. Removed stickers off the fuel tank, put on a black spiderman on the side of my head light, put on a small yoshimura sticker on my speedo, R1 valve caps, much brighter rear brake light so when I turn on the lights the brighter rear light helps counteract the force of the headlight's light pushing my bike backwards and slowing me down.
My next planned mods are to get dual HID Projector lights and mount them each side of the brake light and wire them upto a switch so when I need extra power I can flick a switch and get a dual light boost. Never underestimate the speed of light.
You know little known things that give you extra power but no one talks about. ....

then when that didn't work I just got a 200cc engine and put on the free Yoshimura exhaust I got with the sticker (on my speedo) and to help support my work mates in the Petroleum industry get a bigger carb so I have to fill up more petrol as I burn more fuel.

its a honda engine mate, the engine from the unicorn and the world knows about the reliability, smoothness and the rev happy nature of honda's engines.i don't know if the engine on the hunk is rubber mounted (not a chassis member) or solidly bolted (stressed member of the chassis which tends to give more vibrations,as on the fz and gives a feeling that engine is unrefined)

How many kilometers have you run??
I have been using Motul and its really a good engine oil. Right now on Motul 5100 15W50 (semi-synthetic) oil.
If your ride is new then suggest you to use Motul 3000 4T 20W40 (mineral) oil.

                    Cheers!!

                    • Local Yamaha SVC guy told me that synthetic ( semi synthetic to be precise as I remember somebody telling me there is no FS in Yamalube) oil for Fazer would cost me Rs.305/- .And no info about the grade , just wanted to know whether Yamalube SS (grade unkown,"for Fazer as told by SVC") costs the same in other parts of the country?

Totally Crap.......... you will not get SS for Rs 305
In every part of India... rates are same whether it is SS or mineral grade

SS grade oil is available Rs 500+, dnt kn the exact figure
Beware of this and always check the grade and quality whether in SVC or local mechanic

Yamalube mineral used to cost 270 something and I heard prices increased, so the 305rupees oil he mentioned is mineral.(this is the oil normally svc people fill in fz/fazer at every service)
Yamalube semi synthetic oil used to cost 470, now it's price is also increased. So you won't get yamalube SS for less than 500 bucks.(this is the oil r15 uses)

I haven't heard about any yamalube FS oil.

                          • Need Help

Last month I changed the Piston and Piston rings due to engine noise problem, they have also changed the Valve intake and Valve exhaust . Now the noise is back intially it used to be very feeble at times it disappeared couple of days the noise is very loud like rattling this is noticible while idling and even during revving. To add to this there is some kind of loose chain noise after riding the bike for 10-15kms most probably these are due Cam timings .

The sound more prominent when I close the throttle. I have been riding in 40-55 KMPH ranges shifting at 5k RPM. What could be the problem , I am taking the bike to SVC tomo for check up sine the Local Mechanics never want to touch the internals of the bike and always insist on try changing the oil.

The last oil change was done on 18,800KM now the bike is 20K . What should I ask the SVC guys to check , the specific things to be checked will be really helpful.

Timing is off and also the installation needs to be checked again. Please bear in mind that you will have to follow run-in process again.

                              Cheers,
