I had filled 20W Motul fork oil and unlike stock one's feedback of the road's undulations, with 20W the ride became a bit smooth and soft but the overall feedback has gone down.-these were his words and i made my conclusion based on his feedback.if you are sure that moving up the grade makes the response by the fork stiffer then do make a reply because the mechanics here cannot understand what i am trying to do.

@denzil-valve tappet settings might be the problem,it must have gone wrong, get them adjusted and the problem should get fixed.mine had the same problem some days ago i.e. the hammering sound, after tappet adjustment was done the sound vanished.

    • Hi,
Did somebody try Duke's LED indicators on Fz-16? Is it a direct fit (I already have relay for LED indicators).

Smell of petrol means petrol is able to leak out. So get your carb checked for any leakages.

          Cheers!!

if you are able to see,the ends of these indicators have screws, unlike the fz's indicators which fit without any screws.you can see their fitting (of fz's indicators)by peeping under the rear mudguard(if you want to).these cost 1130 rupees (both).i didn't get time to install them.

The SVC guys told me to replace piston rings as when giving throttle till redline rpm...the engine releases white smoke . But I have no issues with the pick up , mileage everything is fine. I don`t trust SVC guys as I think that white smoke may even come out due to improper air-fuel mixture. Please help.

I have one more question that Does a brand new bike releases white smoke at excessive acceleration ??
Hi all. Actually, I dont own the FZ-16 but a friend does. He is facing the same thing. His bike must be some 5000km old. Actually, I found the torque on his bike stronger than that of my cousin's 3 yr old, 10,800km done FZ-S . What could be the issue?

I change engine oil every 2K - 2.5K kms, fill water in battery every 3-4 months, lubricate chain every 300 kms or 20 days, carb cleaning after 11k kms, air filter cleaning every 500 kms.. its time to replace air filter(running 12.XX kms), will replace spark plug after 15K, brake pads will be replaced as and when required(just cleaned the rear ones once).

You may choose to do these things early, but thats how I keep my bike.
Thanks for your views. It looks like you have the knowledge to service the bike on your own. I am lacking those skills (for now) and have to be dependent on either SVC or some mechanic. I need to know whether any of you have experienced or know anything about new parts being replaced with old ones by SVC. Also, I'd be glad if someone recommends me a good mechanic in Thane.

Thanks buddy. I thought somebody actually mount them. I'll give it a try.
I have the ones, which came from Yamaha, but those are no longer available. The rear left stopped working. Checked all the LEDs, they are fine, I thought one of the resistors have damaged. Don't like to ride on highways like that so wanted to replace it. But I removed it completely, along with holder, cleaned the contacts & it's back to life.
But when I bought these, I had to replace the relay as well. LED relay has been mentioned on it.
Mounting the above ones, it is not tough unless you have to use drill or scissors to enlarge the holes, for fitting the bolts. Use compatible nuts & off you go. But I feel, it might not work with the stock relay (not sure, check in lighting thread).

Dont be misguided.. I change oil means I get oil changed!! Dont know how to remove spark plug.. forget carb etc cleaning!!

FZ is a very basic bike.. carb cleaning, rear brake pad cleaning, etc etc are too rudimentary a job that even a novice mechanic can handle them easily. Get these things done in front of your eyes whenever you see the nearby mechanic taking a nap. You dont have to book an appointment with svc and leave the bike for a day for getting these things done.
100 rs for the labor and 50 rs for the washing and its over.

but there is no signs of leakage on the ground..nor i am experiencing a decrease in mileage...!!!

i planned a tail tidy d.i.y and already have a pulsar 135's rear no plate hanger and the ktm indicators.the LED indicators do work with a stock relay, but their frequency of blinking is double that of filament bulb indicators,so a l.e.d relay is needed.

Its been a long long time i have posted here... I need a help from u guys..
I own a Fazer 2009 model, marked 52,000 km. There is a strange noise from the engine & it annoys... Clutch plate was changed a month ago i have this problem since then... The bikes pick up has also gone down. Engine is not smooth at all. The sound is like "hammering on the engine head". Took it to the SVC thy dont have any clue and telling me tht the bike's engine sound is normal.

What might be the problem? Is there a Gud mechanic in North Chennai ?

Try replacing the clutch springs as well. I had similar problem after 40k km.

                            • Hi mates,
During the servicing of my Fazer, one of the Yamaha service centre guy told me to use "90 grade gear oil" to lube the chain, and not to use kerosene/diesel for chain cleaning. Any idea guys??

                              • What he has told u is correct.kerosene isnt a lubricant.get 90w or better 140w gear oil for lubing chain.it works much better. I was noob enough to use industrial grease for a small period, thanks to my blown-up budget.

Another query..sorry for double posting. Is it worth it to upgrade to 220's steel braided brake lines? Also one of my friend told me that he lubed the throttle cable and found the performance improved.is it true/effective/advisable?
