i will suggest you to look for factors, which indicate normal condition of the bike.it will be best if you take a test ride of a well maintained fz and compare it with yours.
so the factors for normalcy of the bike are:1.strong initial pickup which continues till 6000 rpm.(if you are not heavy)
2.no misfiring, jerks and no hard gearshifts. 3.no tappet noise(type of sewing machine noise from engine) 4.color of sparkplug should be tan. 5.the engine of fz gets a bit more hot (just a bit) than other 150cc's but if it gets too hot and too early then afr is lean(more air than fuel) if the engine is jerking, misfiring then afr is rich(more fuel than air),no need to worry, get the carburetor adjusted from a reputed mechanic. 6.to check the rear suspension, front suspension, handlebar play, brakes go once through the owner's manual.
hope this helps you to decide the health of your beast/baby/brawler (or in my case,my mule)(no offence)
    1. The pick up is good. No worries on that matter
    2. I have driven another well maintained FZ and it seems fine. Can't exactly say as I'm new to biking.
    3. Have taken the service manual.
    4. The bike has been purchased from a known person and has been maintained with regular servicing.

Thank you for your inputs :]

Step 2: Since, you will hit around 12000 kms in your next service it is wise to replace the stock air filter as per the manual and also the spark plug if the tip is not looking fine. Request them to lubricate all the necessary parts.

Step 3: Ensure that you give her a good treatment of engine oil. If cost is a major concern then Motul 3000V 4T mineral oil is the one to go for. If you want better quality and engine protection, opt for Motul 7100 FS oil 20W 50 or else SS oil Motul 5100. My personal preference has always been Motul 300V FS oil but it is expensive a good 940 bucks INR. With the cost of the oil filter coming down to just 35 bucks INR, I would recommend that you should get it replaced at every service though not mandatory but won't harm your engine or your wallet either. Its like throwing a fresh pair of socks instead of using old ones.

Step 4: Have fun riding her.

    Cheers,
Will surely go to Kamla Yamaha from next service onwards.

I was told that the air filter was changed by the previous owner.
During the servicing I got done Yamalube SS was used. Looking to change to FS but confused about the variant or brand to use.
Would be great if one of the seniors here could meet up and have a look.
BTW amazing double angel ring set and HID. Congo on that. Hoping to see them soon.
How much was the pocket burn??

Thank you for your inputs. :]

Adding to above points & considering this motorcycle to be 3-4 years old & completed just 9500kms:
    1. Check with the owner if he has completed the all the services, check the service record.
    2. Don't follow the service manual as per kms, you will now need to do the service after 70 days from the previous service. At least try to follow the schedule for first couple of services. If you don't have the service & user manual I can provide you the xerox copy if you need, I stay in Goregaon. As mentioned by Shiv, Kamala Yamaha has service center at Borivali too. If possible go there or at Malad YFS, but YFS will be closed down from 20th Jan temporarily till they find the new place. I myself do not like the service of YFS, had bad experience, but still prefer it, because it's very near to my house,
    3. Replace the front break fluid & hose unless you are absolutely sure that it has been replaced recently,
    4. Check the break pads if they are worn out completely, check rear break,
    5. Fork alignment, get it checked unless you know the rider & condition of the motorcycle well,
    6. Replace fork oil & also the seals if required,
    8. Steering play & get the cone set well greased. Check if there is no bend in the handle,
    9. Check & replace the battery if it has not been replaced recently.
    10. Replace the oil & oil filter. I moved to motul FS after 5K, since then using it. No issues.
    11. Check the spark plug condition as well as gap & get the carburetor cleaned & tuned properly,
    12. Replace the air filter,
    13. Check clutch & throttle play, check idling speed,
    14. Check the chain tightness & lubricate it regularly. You can use Motul chain lubricant & diesel for cleaning,
    15. Check the air pressure in both tires & check for wheel bends if any, if possible replace the tires (you might require to replace it near future),
    16. Get the swing arm lubricated,
    17. Lubricate clutch & throttle cable,
    18. Use System23 from iftex, it will be available at BP petrol pumps or you will find it at Opera house market. I used it once & felt the difference. Need to add 2ml per litre of petrol before refilling. Do not know the chemical composition though. Don't use System G, it is used for 4 wheeler, may have negative effects in the long run,
    19. Check tool kit,
    20. Check registration papers, insurance & PUC validity. Keep a notarized copy under the seat, no need to carry originals.
It may look exhaustive to you, but better to get it done if you don't have the previous service record.
Will surely look into the following things.
Have already kept a set of papers below the seat.
The previous owner had misplaced the tool kit.
Will use System23 from next petrol fill onwards.
Using Motul chain lube every 500 kms.

Have used Zorrik 88 to clean it though.

Thank you for your inputs :]

Check pipes and connections for leakages. Check oil level and condition.. you may also like to have a look at the tire tread and cracks if any.. and you are good to go.
Have confirmed the usage as I have bought it from a known person. Tyres have started becoming a little squarish. Will have to change them soon.

Thank you for your inputs mate :]

The plastic on the speedometer has cracked, as in the glass part of it. So will I have to change the whole speedometer set?? Need to do something about it before the rains.

Did you change only rings or piston and rings? The rings must be seated so you must not do sudden acceleration. Rev freely till 1k kms and then you ride the way you want.

              Was the cylinder honed?
If you put new rings in regardless if there is a new piston or the existing one reused you need to get the cyl honed, otherwise the rings won't bed in.

What rev range are you riding it? gear, rpm and road speed?

I am not sure whether the cylinder was honed , but the SVC said they had to Engine Head Valve seated.

I am riding at 4-5k RPM at 40-60 KMPH shifting at 4k RPM

Have you had the workshop check the valve tappet clearance?

Perhaps as the engine heats up the clearances change, making the sound more louder.

I will take the bike to SVC this weekend and ask them to check the valve tappet clearance. Is it DIY i will try it
