I just tried riding my bike but it wouldn't move. It started fine, I put it in first gear, left the clutch and started giving it a little acceleration like anyone would normally do to get it moving but it just wouldn't go. It would rev and there was a weird grinding sound coming from the engine. First in thought the chain was slipping as I just put new tyres on Saturday and hadn't ridden the bike since then. So I thought maybe he didn't fit the swing arm and stuff back properly. But it wasn't that. It seems like the clutch is slipping. I tried in All gears. Same problem. The weird part is I just rode it on Saturday, it was perfect. Couldn't be happier with the ride because of the new tyres. After that, today is the first time taking it out and this is what happened. I'm really bummed out. It happened all of a sudden and I do take good care of the bike.

Any ideas what it could be?

The signs are pointing to clutch plates or the cable as well. May I suggest that quick visit to Kamla Yamaha at Sewree would be a good thing to do? They shall get your bike properly inspected and up and running in no time.

      Cheers,
I suspect the clutch plates too or the front sprocket. But if it's the clutch plates, isn't it supposed to happen gradually and not over night. I just can't figure it out. Driving me crazy.
The bike not moving. Taking g it to Kamla would be possible only of I tow it. And it's a long way from Bandra. Will get it checked at a local mechanic first I guess.

It's the sprocket. When I put it in first gear and take it off main stand, the rod in the centre of the sprocket (front) Some turns but the sprocket doesn't turn. That's the problem. I'll have to wait till I get back from work today or the weekend to see how to get that fixed.

A brand new sprocket giving you trouble.. Altough not impossible, I suspect may be for some reason it was not installed correctly. Anyways, it should not a be a major headache to get it fixed. Where did you get the chain and sprokcet work done if I may ask? If it was done at an SVC be you can have fun with them.

          Cheers,

What you mean you can't unscrew anything with the provided screwdriver ? The provided screwdriver has two heads, pull the screwdriver from its handle and you'll see

                    Lol, agree..looks like it's broken.

Btw it's better to buy a short '+' head screwdriver than to use the provided cheap quality one.

The chain and sprocket aren't new. I've been using this set for sometime now. The tyres are brand new. I've ridden the bike just once with the new tyres on.

Mate in order to take out your windscreen you first need to take out your headlight. For removing your headlight, you need to unscrew four allen nuts and for that you need an allen key wrench which is not provided in your toolkit, it seems. (Btw i really don't know whether it should be there in a new bike's tool kit or not). I think you tried to unscrew those allen bolts using the provided screwdriver thus it didn't open. So first you need to get an allen key wrench..

                        • Synthetic oil on a rich mixture.

Friends, tomo is my 3rd service due. Its been 6 months and 4.5k on the ODO.

Now I always had a feeling that my engine was running rich because of somewhat sluggish response to throttle and that my mileage never crosses 33kmpl even with a riding style thats about halfway between sedate and aggressive.
Today when I got the spark plug opened at my local mechanic (couldn't do it at home, that thing was screwed on so tightly ) i saw that the plug was slightly dark in colour and there was some oil on it (attaching a pic for reference). My mechanic said looking at it that it was running rich.

I'm gonna mention this to the SVC tomo. Now what I would like to know is whether this can cause some long term damage to the engine.

Also I want to shift to Motul SS oil. Since that oil cleans out your engine internals, on my engine where there might be deposits on the cylinder walls due to a rich mixture, cleaning out might result in compression loss?? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I hope switching to SS or FS oil at this stage will not cause any problem.

Any suggestions from the senior riders?

                          Cheers!!

Doesn't look like you're running rich, but lets see what seniors think about it. Btw how come there's oil on the spark plug?

If you have crossed 22+ k kms on your stock set then I believe it is time for the chain and sprocket set change. If you have recently changed it to a new one then get it checked. If not then get them replaced asap. May I suggest Kamla Yamaha for the same. They are best in the business SVC. Would suggest that you check with them regarding the availability of the same.
