Actually, the MRF tyre dealer doesn't know that my bike's two years old, he only knows that I've clocked 4k KMS. He is pretty positive that I'll get reimbursement of some sorts.

I'm hoping that my claim will be accepted because the SVC guy told that they take such tyres for research, study and find out what went wrong. But it's a long procedure and may take two weeks of time.

On the other hand, I am also worried of being duped. What if, the dealer doesn't send my tyre and calls me after 10 days to say that the claim has been rejected. The chances are less but...one can't say that it won't happen.
Ok. Ask the dealer what all things does he require to pass the claim? As in, any proof of purchase or will he be able to send it like that. Also, it will be better if you tell him that, the tyre is 2 years old. Incase, if he comes to know it later, he might put his hands up. Be foolproof from your side.

      Cheerz!!

Hi Guys, My FZ-16 is 2 months and 950 Kms old, it got its first servicing at 450 Kms, Service center guy told me to change the Engine Oil then but I argued with them and told that I would change it after 1000 Kms (as instructed in manual) ,but they told me its company's policy to bill Engine Oil during first service, So I bought it and brought it home ( usual YAMALUBE)

So , what are things I should take care when I change the oil after 1000 Kms? Should I change the Oil filter? Should I pour in the complete 1 Litre of Oil?

And I am eager to shift to Synthetic Oil, from how many KMS should I do it?

and is there anyway to evaluate the RUN-IN?

        Thanks in Advance

dude.. Get the oil changed asap..
it should be changed in 500-700 km range.. 1000 km is way too long for the first service..
Change the oil filter and use the whole 1L oil..
and don't switch to synthetic now.. Let 2-3 services go.. Then make the switch..
About run-in evaluation.. Don't think much about it.. Just keep the bike in a loving way for the time being.. Don't push in high revs.. Keep varing the speed..
          The bike should do well..

          Ride safe and have fun.

Bro, since your bike is still in run-in period, it will be very wise of you to get the oil changed. During run-in period, the metal parts rub against each other to attain the perfect clearance between them. This causes the fine metal scraps to get mixed in the oil. So, the oil should be changed ASAP. Do the oil change at the SVC. To keep your bike under warranty, you should follow the process and in turn this will help you only. During oil change, always drain the previous oil completely and fill in with the whole 1L can.

For run-in period, the best is to not rev hard, don't throttle and brake, no idling for too long, keep varying your speed while keeping the tacho away from high RPM's.

Why so eager to shift to synthetic? Switch to synthetic after about 2000kms or so. Be aware that, the SVC guys will put the FS Yamalube and not mineral oil when you get your bike serviced.

575 or 525 for a pair, I don't remember exact. Will confrm by evening. They are hesitant in selling Duke and Ninja spare, will have to convince them. I said it's for a friend in neighboring district.

Loosen the locknut at the clutch lever.
Then turn the adjusting bolt to decrease/increase clutch play. Do remember to tighten the locknut after you are done adjusting the free play

Mine is Black FZ-16 , so do you guys think adding the visor (that comes with FZ-S) gives it a better look? I am in the opinion of not installing it, but my friends think otherwise, few pics (on Black FZ-16) would surely help my decision

and I wanted to get the exhaust painted complete black, any effects?

and what are your opinions on Teflon Coating? (any alternatives are welcome)

Thanks again guys, your opinions are invaluable for a novice like me

just change the sliver part of the exhaust.. Would cost only about 200rs.. I have changed mine..
teflon coating protects the paint from fading.. Its good to have a bright colour

i don't think adding a visor looks good on fz-16..
The frame around the head-light is also slightly different..
                              you can check this..

Guys, I am using Mobil Delvac 1300 Diesel engine oil from around 7-8K kms "voluntarily". Today replaced my spark plug which was 14000 km old (was working fine). But I dont understand correlation between spark plug condition and engine condition. Here are the pics -

May I request anybody with fair knowledge of spark plugs state the condition of my bike engine's internals.

Also posted the query at engine oil thread, but no response yet.
