Hai

Just a noob question.

I am not able to go past 6000 rpm in a straight road in 5th gear. It reaches 100+ km/h. But why am I not able to go beyond 6000 rpm in 5th gear. But I am able to go beyond 6000 rpm in 4th gear. Please help.

Cheers.

As mentioned in the above post, 100kph is @ 7300rpm. How are you able to reach 100kph @ 6k rpm?

What I do is I try to reach the maximum speed in 4th gear and then shift to the 5th gear. I am sorry it is 90+ km/h not 100+ km/h.

don't do this.. it would only damage the bikes engine.. shift to 5th gear much sooner than this.. the top gear is what should be used for attaining max speeds..

Just by pushing the bike to its limit in the lower gear will only have adverse effects on the bike.

Also, FZ does struggle to go past 100+kph in the top gear because of its short gear ratios.

Hi Everyone,

Just have a small query. I am going to wash and clean my bike tomorrow. I generally use Kerosene to clean the chain and then lubricate with Motul Chain lube. But I want to know about lubricating different parts and joints, what should i use for this???

Can we use used engine oil for lubrication?? What part should be lubricate about washing and cleaning the bike????

--Thanks..........

There arn't many parts that do require much lub.
the brake and clutcl levers.. Stand springs.. Key holes.. The rear brake joint at the wheel.. Rear brake paddle spring..
And ya.. You can use engine oil for such parts..normally the guys at svc also use the same..

You may use EP 90 gear oil for lubing the chain and clutch, accelerator cable and may be the starter motor. But for switch gears use WD 40. A big can comes for RS 250 bucks and will last you for a year or two.

Actually not true. If you maintain your bike properly then there is no problem with pushing your ride to the red line. Other way round it is a nice exercise to take the engine to higher revs.. consider it as a workout. Lets the engine burn off and get rid of excess carbon deposition on the valves, chamber due to resonance at higher rpms and also frees up the engine. The idea is not to keep her on the red line for extremely long distance which proves damaging for the engine. If one wants to accelerate faster than shift gears at 7500 rpm and you will achieve high speeds. But bear in mind a throttle happy rider will than witness drop in FE. So one cannot expect everything!

shv18.. Doing red line once in a while is not the problem.. But doing so all the time is certainly harmful for the engine..
We all do a burst of fast run sometimes.. But not always..

shv18... Agree with u sir . But, revving hardly in lower gears is not healthy for the bike. It produces more stress and will not be good for engine in the long term.

Guys, I am facing a pecular problem. When i turn the steering to right, the RPM increases. On seeing carefully, i can notice that, the accelarator cable is getting pulled slightly. Just got my bike serviced few days back. Also, if i keep the steering on the right side and throttle, the RPM gradually comes down.

Any clue how to sort this out? For sure the accel cable is getting pulled.

The cable could be a tangle with others.. Check for that.. If its in tangle with some other cable, this might cause the pulling.. Do look carefully in the morning..

• Help - Fz16/Fazer Not Able to downshift the Gear

Hi All,

This morning I was riding in my bike to my office, on the way I noticed that I was not able to Downshift the Gears.

It noticed that there is no feedback from gear on downshift, hence I am not able to do any downshifts, was able to do upshift.

I took it to a local road side mechanic he told me the spring is gone, and he needs 700 bucks to fix it.

I parked my bike in my office and thinking of what to do with it.

My doubt is,
1. Whether Spring is really the problem ? or something else ?
2. If 1 is True , 700 bucks would be the cost ? as he told me he need to open the engine and do it.

Thanks

i can't say much about what might be the problem..
do check the rice with the SVC.. and also discuss the problem with them..
after that do what you think might be a better option..

Dont try out local mechanics.get it done from service centre,a trusted one. Most probably the local mechanic is trying to cheat you.
