The piston rings are problematic then. If you are using Fully synthetic return back to mineral. Apart from that even valve clearance may be playing up. Tighten the plug properly and check again to reach a conclusion.

Ya, I am using FS for the last 2.5-3k kms.. will change to mineral oil then.Originally posted by muztariq View PostNo, I was thinking its diesel or something from a recent wash.

I will get the carb cleaned and if possible, change the plug and see if the problem still persists.
also, i am keeping an eye on the oil level as it was reduced some 400-500kms back, but has stayed constant since then after the top-up.
thanks..
Ride safe and have fun.

Its FS, then just keep running on it and if the bike starts hesitating change to Mineral. There is no issue with the piston rings then.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostYa, I am using FS for the last 2.5-3k kms.. will change to mineral oil then.

I am running on ELF Performance 3D 15w40 and liking it a lot. Use any CI-4/API SL oil.

Ya, there is no performance loss or anything. Will keep this in mind.Originally posted by muztariq View PostIts FS, then just keep running on it and if the bike starts hesitating change to Mineral. There is no issue with the piston rings then.

If there is any type of hesitation from the engine, will revert to mineral.
My bike is only a few kms shy of 25k..
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Filled battery water, it was completely dry as far I have checked. Now no starting issues. But need to check the water level every 1-2 months, this is quite irritating. Would it be a good idea to change the battery or run the current one as long as it is okay?

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
If you don't wish to do this, you can go for Amaron's MF battery. Those are gel based and don't require any top up.Originally posted by alto View PostFilled battery water, it was completely dry as far I have checked. Now no starting issues. As for the query, its like this for most.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Guys my fz s is battle green edition (mfg Nov 13).the service guy is telling to replace clutch rod as it is shorter in all new bikes. He told this will be covered under warranty.
Is this true? That part is being replaced for all new fz bikes?

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Tell the SVC to show Yamaha's letter mentioning the same. Look for the serial number mentioned in it. Also, shoot a mail to Yamaha regarding the same.Originally posted by eagle06 View PostGuys my fz s is battle green edition (mfg Nov 13).the service guy is telling to replace clutch rod as it is shorter in all new bikes. I think its one seal each. Don't remember properly.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostGuys, how many fork seals are there on one side? Time for me to change them.
Cheerz!!
And try to use Genuine Yamaha seals. My mech. used local ones, but I am not satistied with them. It sometimes leaves a layer of oil (so its leaking again
)

I suppose it should be more than one seal. The SVC had dust seal in stock with them, but SVC guy didn't fit it. They told me it isn't in stock. I saw their parts catalogue and could see some 3-4 rings in that. So, just wanted to conform the same. Will surely change both at once.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostOne per side.
