Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Is that so with the new bikes? If so can the setup be adapted for the older Fazers? I have a 2012 model and only one light works on low and high beam.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostNa na... That information is wrong. On high bram, both lamps are on.
In my experience, the Fazer's headlamp design is one of the worst on any bike. The lights are too weak and light up the side of the road. And there is no provision to adjust them laterally.
The unworn portion of tyre near the outer edge may be referred to as chicken strips.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostWhat is chicken strips ?

Only one. That $ucks.
I have owned R15v1 and now v2 also, on both these bikes, only one works on low beam, but on high beam, both the lamps are on.
Don't know about the Fazers. Thought they would also be same.
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hello Everyone,
I was driving GS150 for almost 2 years now and with the help of this thread, went ahead to buy FZs(Mean Green). 5k on the ODO.
I always wanted a heel shifter as my shoes were getting damaged and my toe bone would start paining.
Bought a GS 150 toe-heel gear shifter, got it cut and welded to the FZs toe shifter.Believe me when i say this that the gear shifting from heel side is 10 times smoother than toe.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hello frnds,
Recently i have observed a kind of vibration from my ride. mine is Fazer 2012 model. when i accelerate from low rpm after i shift from 2nd gear i experience a thumpy feel accompanied by fairing vibe. Vibe starts in low rpm just after i change the gear and its there in all the gears after that. This vibe can be felt on speedo, RVM stem, and visor too..... but this vibe exist for only particular speed (at start after each gearshift )... i never experienced such behavior before. Any thing to be checked???.....bike has done 12k + and is on Motul SS. Air filter changed 2 months backLast edited by vimal_hbk; 01-23-2014, 03:47 PM.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
If you experience thumpy effect after starting the bike for first time in the day, then it is normal. The engine takes time to warm it up. The thumpy effect maybe due to high gear at low RPM, in this case the engine will lag and cause jerks. Is the vibe just at 4k rpm? If so, that is normal. The vibe happens at that particular RPM and goes off as you accelerate. Regarding the fairing vibes, tighten the screws of fairings. Place a rubber seal in between the screw to dampen the vibes. Also, the RVM, speedo are bound to have vibes if you are above 80kph.Originally posted by vimal_hbk View PostHello frnds,

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
The vibes in the front end mostly happen when we change gears at lower rpm's. The speedo vibrates a little, but vahish as soon as the speed builds-up. Change the gears in higher rpm's and you won't face this problem.Originally posted by vimal_hbk View PostHello frnds,
I mostly change gears in 6-7k rpm range and don't face this problem now, and the bike is always in the sweet power zone.
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Why do you want to change the piston block? If the bike is in its peak condition, i don't think it is required to change.Originally posted by vinay1552 View PostHey xBhpian need help my fz16 (2008) 60k done in odo still goes 0 to 95 km/h easily fast and still feel young but i still don't know that should i change hole block piston set or just go for new ring replacement..

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
i usually shift gears arnd 4k...so never felt this thumpy and vibey effect before....the mirrors vibrate pretty badly....and then fades away......oil is 1 month old and my next servicing is arnd feb last week. Also i noticed after servicing the oil level was at top mark of dipper scale. Usually if u pour one ltr oil along with new oil filter the filter too takes up some amount of oil. hence due to which we need to add additional 100 ml oil too bring the oil level above minimum mark. This was not the case after last servicing. Oil level was above touching Max mark.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostIf you experience thumpy effect after starting the bike for first time in the day, then it is normal. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hi!!
I ride a fazer for an year and have clocked over 22k kms, and to say it has been a happy riding in what so ever conditions.
I didn't have any major problems with the bike, but lately when I trying to change the engine oil the drain valve screw had the threads along with it and when fitted in after draining the oil, it dint not fit in the engine tightly, so had to use threads to make it fit in.
The bike have been given to the service station for fixing this and he said it could be done by making new threads in the engine so that the screw fits in properly.
I have been using shell fully synthetic oil from the beginning and the persons in the bunk said that they are having troubles with Yamaha fazer and fz bikes engine drive trains thread being broken often.
I wanted to know whether this is an issue using the shell oils or due to incorrect tightening of the screws, if so isn't a bike's engine made with stand the manual tightening or this should be kept hand tight.
Regards
biker.....

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
After changing the Oil Filter at SVC, i change the oil ASAP. But, just like you, i also fill up 1ltr of oil and the oil level reaches top level.Originally posted by vimal_hbk View Posti usually shift gears arnd 4k...so never felt this thumpy and vibey effect before....the mirrors vibrate pretty badly....and then fades away......oil is 1 month old and my next servicing is arnd feb last week. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
You should change both the oil and the filter at the same time. Not a good practice what you do.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostAfter changing the Oil Filter at SVC, i change the oil ASAP. But, just like you, i also fill up 1ltr of oil and the oil level reaches top level.

A size 8 T-spanner is used to open the filter bolts. I got one for 40rs.
