Early I the morning just start the bike and don't idle but rev it to atleast 6k rpm and see. The smoke if it comes will not last more than 3 revs or 4. If so open head cover and replace o-ring over the unburnt fuel return outlet shouk stop oil problem return bike to original state. And in most cases under hard use these new bikes cylinder kits are lasting for only 30-40k kms (damn shame, but true). I hope its not that in your case. On a diffrent note, check the oil breather pipe to see it has its plug still in it. During use it can cause oil to leak just one drop at a time.
I will keep an eye for the oil level regularly and if during the next oil change, the level drops like this, will open the head and check the rings.

And check for smoke on cold engine tomorrow.

As for the engine behaviour, i don't feel any loss in power now a days. But definitely not like the urgency of a new bike.
    Thanks for the input

My guess is, its there to hold manuals plastic bag in place or to stop it from sliding over the air intake.

I think its just body rubber to protect the frame from rubbing against the air box and to keep airbox from rattling about

Like I said pop open the head cover and change the small rubber o-ring between the hole near the exhaust port and the tiny metal pipe on top of the head cover. If you didn't understand then I will post pics of its location. So just let me know k.

I won't open the head myself. Don't want to mess things up inside. Will take to svc and ask them to change the o-ring and check for any additional wear inside.

Oh no I would never suggest you do it yourself man. Take it to svc but be specific and unyeilding in your query and demand. Don't let them get the upper hand or you'll be getting an overhaul instead of a checkup. Good luck and cheers 😊

Ya, i do that only. Svc mechs doesn't pay any heed to the customer if he isn't firm about what he's asking for.

I am thinking to mod my FZ-S as we just completed one year relationship, which has been a total bliss!

                      I have some queries:

                      1. I have gone through complete thread of air filters. I was hoping to get the some air filter but I see that people are strongly suggesting that it won't be beneficial to sub 180cc bikes, like ours. Has anybody using non-stock air filter from the long time, more than 1 year? If yes, what is your experience? What do you recommend? What I expect from the new stock air filter is better sound, that's all.

                      2. After the last free servicing, I noticed that the front brakes were not up to the mark. Upon observation, I saw that the front oil ring seal was broken and the disks were partially covered in oil. The seal was replaced promptly. Even after the replacement and the cleaning of the disks, I don't feel that the disk brakes are that efficient at stopping the bike, compared to what I had before. I feel them little lose (not sure how to put it in words). Can I get them adjusted properly once again?

                      3. Shifting from 3rd gear on wards is a total bliss and there are no jerks. But, riding the bike on 1st and then shifting from 1st to 2nd gear is too painful. If I let go of the throttle, I can feel sudden engine breaking and speed decreases substantially, i.e. I feel the jerks on 1st gear and then while shifting between 1st-2nd gear. I do know how to explain this properly but I guess we call it as jerks.

                      4. I have been reading some conflicting information on the efficiency of spark plugs, e.g. NGK. Will I get any advantage by changing the stock spark plugs?

                      Thanks.

                        1. Sound will change with aftermarket air filter. Since you have gone through the thread and would have read the cons and still want to go ahead, get K&N stock replacement air filter. But remember to tune the carburetor after that.
                        2. Bleed the brake fluid and hopefully it will solve the problem.
Low brake fluid or air present inside the brake line causes this problem.
                        3. Lube the chain properly and keep correct slack.
Btw, how much has the bike run ? If above 15k kms, would be good to change the whole chain-sprocket set. Worn out sprockets also cause jerky shifting.
                        4. Use stock spark plug and replace at recommended intervals. No advantage in using other plugs in our small cc bikes.

                        Ride safe and have fun.

                          1. Definitely! You mean upjetting right? I did not find any good source of information on how to do it? I meant noob friendly guide.
                          2. Bleed brake fluid means replacing new brake fluid right? The servicing center already did that, as apparent from the bill. What else can be done to tighten the front disk brakes?
                          3. Running is just 8k so far. I will keep this point in mind.
                          4. Thanks for the confirmation of spark plugs. I was bit reluctant in the first place myself.

Any idea what would FFE system from race concepts would cost? I live in Pune.

                            1. There are a couple of threads present on modding fz in General bike discussion . check them out. You might be able to find good information there.
But for just changing the air filter, there shouldn't be need of jetting. Just tune the carb.
                            2. He might not have changed the fluid properly. Or the pads have some problem due to the leaked fluid. Not sure abiut this one.

As for FFE, there are many good exhausts available in the market. Don't go for RC. Would cost some ₹12k.

Non stock filters like k&n increase air flow a little making air intake efficient. On s sub- 180cc its neither very useful nor completly useless bro. Will make the bike breathe better though. How long ago was the brake serviced? Disk oil needs to buid pressure a bit to function right so brake hard a few times and see, if it doesn't make a diffrence get the piston in the brake fluid reservoir checked and the brake line for air blockage. The jerking us something I am unable to understand. I assume the bike didn't jerk this much before on low gears. Get the tuning set on the carb. You do infact get advantage by changing plugs. But be careful not to use a plug of diffrent spec than oe. I use Bosch rr6 duel contact plug and efficiency and throttle responce iss better. Hope this helps. 😁
