Don't you have to downshift frequently when riding in city? Or need to rev it more when riding in bumper to bumper traffic?

How much did the 15T sprocket cost you?

    Cheerz!!

Any particular things I need to be aware of (do we have any such noob-help threads here ?)
Check for any scratches on body, panels, headlights, tail light, indicators, front shock absorber, rattling of fairing, working of all electricals (lights, console, brake lights, indicators).

    Cheerz!!

As i said there is not much difference. As the fz is a torque-master hence low end is not much compromised, but the top end is better in terms of smoothness. Earlier bike felt stressed after 60 kmph but now its stressed after 80-90 kmph.

The unicorn sprocket costed rs. 70 and labour rs.50. I bought a local sprocket as i wanted to test it and you better buy a genuine one from Honda Service center.

Guys, just had a query. I am riding with 120/80 Zapper Vyde rear tire from past 3 years. Till date there are no issues & I am satisfied with the handling and grip of the tire. I heard that upsizing of tire had impact on handling & gearing especially but don't know what exactly are the effects. My question is what would be the results if I change the stock 14T sprocket to Unicorn's 15T sprocket on gearing when bike is on (A) Stock Tire & (B) with the tire I am riding at present ?

I am riding on the exact same tyre for 7k kms now.Grip is ok but i feel handling is different.

I have been experementing with sprocketing.
          I used following setup:
          14/42
          14/40
          13/42
          13/40

I had problem of tyre touching the hugger with 13/42 setup.
Regarding 15t sprocket, this setup will make the gearing taller.120/80 tyre has already increased the gearing and 15 tooth sprocket will make it even taller.

15 tooth sprocket will increase the topend of the bike and you will lose the grunt at lower end.

          • Yamaha FZS carburettor tuning

My FZs has a problem that I am not able to figure out. I have been taking it to mechanics since past six months and nobody could fix it.

The problem seems to be in carburettor. It randomly gets fast, so I turn idle screw a bit slow. after few minutes, it goes too slow and shuts off as soon as I release accelerator.
Also, it misfires a lot. and that too at very risky places, like in traffic, or turns where good bike control is needed. I tried following some tips I found on Google on how to tune it up. But it doesn't seem to work. The weird thing about my carburettor is, there's no change in RPM when I completely close the fuel screw. I would expect it to shut off the engine since the flow is stopped

The mileage has drastically gone down.

What could be the reason of this random change? Someone please guide. PLz.

Happens due to low fuel and other impurities that are stirred at the bottom of the tank.

                Ride safe and have fun.

Any idea on cleaning these impurities.Through some fuel additives?

Over time, sludge gets accumulated at in the tank and this is the reason its always recommended to keep the fuel as much as possible.
You can get the tank cleaned to be fully sure. And secondly use System-G, it helps in cleaning the fuel lines and carb.

                        Hi Guys,
Three weeks back i put shell engine oil. after draining the old oil they didn't tight the nut properly.last week only i noticed oil was leaking.suddenly i went to Yamaha SVC and checked the oil level.they told oil level is low and put some Yamaha oil to maintain the level. Now the situation is 3/4 of the engine oil is shell and 1/4 is Yamaha. there is no change in sound or any other problems while driving.can someone tell should i change the oil now or can i use the same?

Also i noticed my front disc is super hot after driving 5- 6 KMs. is it normal?

Get the tank cleaned manually.Clean fuel filter on the fuel cock and the carburator.
This will be the best .
Or you can use system g.
I havent used it so dont know much about it.You can google it though.

No need to change the oil. Make it a point everyday to check whether there is any leakage of any fluids from your bike.

Put your bike in main stand and rotate the front wheel. See if the wheel is rotating freely if not then your brake pads may be pressing against your disc.

                              Cheers

                              • Advice on, whether or not to buy a new tyre - Yamaha FZ

                                Hello guys,

My FZ's rear tyre had a puncture almost a year back. After a futile attempt of using a seal strip and since the tear was too big the mechanic suggested to put a tube. I've been using the tyre with tube for the past year and I haven't had any problems so far with local trips around the city. But I'm planning to hit the road for a 1000-1500 km journey in a couple of months and I'm fairly skeptical of how my tyre would endure. I'm looking forward to getting expert opinion from you guys.

I've attached pics of my tyre. The seal strip is visible in the tyre.
