go for the v2 bcos it got better mileage and better power to ratio compares to old 153 cc

    as old 153 (2008) got 30 to 35 kmpl the v2 got 38 to 42 kmpl

The nail has been on the rear tyre for over a year now. The nail head has worn out and gotten narrower. Lol.

Hi Guys, Im new on this thread, i need some guidance ASAP.
My friend's Yamaha FZ-S which was picked up second hand on OLX today has 3 niggling issues, he is set to leave for Mangalore(300Kms) on the same bike this Saturday.

          The 3 issues are:-

1.> Handle bar steering is very tight, can be felt during riding. Could it be faulty cone set/Race bearings?
2.> Engine Oil, whats the right engine oil level as seen from dip stick? Is YAMALUBE okay, else any other oil, grade?(Upon inspection, saw it below the half line.)
3.> Front fork is very hard apparently due to less oil and when run over small pot holes a thak sound is heard. Whats the fork oil capacity and the preferred oil grade?

Can the FZ experts come together here and input their thoughts and guide me the right way...

P.S: I'm a total DIY person and would be looking to do this myself for my friend before he hits the road, so would be appreciating all the How tos and To dos.

          Thanks in advance

            1) go for the cone set check or check the T for tite handling if ur thinking for replacement got to the SVC bcos cone set is set with a cone pullers not with hammer

            2) i personally use shell ax7 10w40 all year it give 3200 km to 3500km smooth ride

3)the tak sound is the headlights bums to the front fender and 550 ml to 600ml is use for per fock

Thanks for the prompt reply, will do as said.
However I'm skeptical of the fork oil process, all the YASS are pathetic here in Bangalore.
The bike which was given for service and clearly mentioned oil changed in bill and job card was practically running with same burnt oil, fully blackened and hardly the minimum quantity. I'll change the oil to the Shell ax7 myself.

Any estimate on the charges for cone set and fork oil change including labour at YASS?

I'll be watching it being done at the YASS, as I haven't much options.

I am not an expert bit have learnt a lot from experience and research.
Fork oil amountvis 459ml per tube.Use a calibrated vessel to be exact.

I is better to DIY rather than depend upon mechanics.
Get oil level corrected soon else fork spring will go bad.
Fork spring length should be 254.4 mm.If found too low better change the spring. They are cheap.

How much kms has the bike done. Please check the following.
                    1. Check if there is lubrication in the bearing set. If not clean and lubricate them first.
                    2. Check for proper movement of the handle and ride it for few kms. If found ok then carry on else change the cone set - Cost for full set is Rs. 315.
                    3. If the bike has completed more than 10K then go in for Motul 5100 SS or else motul 3000 Mineral. Yamalube is also ok But Motul is better.
                    4. Change the fork oil and oil seal. The required level is 459ml/fork. Like said if spring is also weak then change them. Oil seal - Rs. 180 each and 3 cans of fork oil - Rs. 110 each.

                    Cheers

                    Mathews

I was smoked BY pulsar 150 on the highway , when I was doing 112 which seems to be the current topend of my ride. My question is that P150 was with a pillion , how could it manage to overtake someone doing Solo on speed of 110+. Is P150 that much potent on the topend or is something wrong with my ride.

Here are few info on my ride total KMS -36K , Last service done 31000 on the ODO, Engine oil -Motul 3100 SL, custom air filter (might be the culprit) , Chain set changed at 28000KMs,clutch plates never replaced and sparkplug never replaced.
Worn out Front tyre and Dunlop Tuff Grip 140/70 2yrs old and run 14000kms.

FZ struggles to keep pace above 90-95kph. So, don't be shocked to see other 150cc bikes zoom past you easily

Change your spark plug and check the condition of clutch plates. Also, using a custom Air Filter will harm the engine in long run.

nothing is worng with your ride p150 has the advantage of tall gear ratio and bigger spockts size

Finally after 2 weeks, the svc got the rear alloy for my bike. But something was waiting to shock me, the tyre seemed to be deformed on the walls !! maybe due to riding a flat tyre for some distance. It isn't able to retain air.
Got to buy a new tyre now. Lets see what options are available in the market. Kharche pe kharcha.

Stock front is good. No puncture till now and still has some life left even after 30k kms. No reason to change to different tyre.
